DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — He’s 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, yet easy to overlook.

Ndamukong Suh plays tackle but seldom makes one because he’s almost always double-teamed, engaged in a scrum in the middle of each play that often determines how well it works.

And while the performance of the Miami Dolphins’ $114 million man can be difficult to assess, he’s disinclined to help.

“I haven’t graded it, and probably won’t until the end of the season,” Suh said Tuesday. “It’s not important to make a grade midway through the year. It’s about what you can do each and every week, and finding ways to help this team win.”

That he has done the past two games, as the Dolphins (3-4) come off their bye week and prepare to face the New York Jets.

Coaches and teammates cite the former Nebraska star as a big reason for the team’s improvement.

“Suh has played well all year,” defensive coordinator Vance Joseph said. “He’s doubled by a lineman every play, but he is disruptive in there, especially on pass downs. He can push the pocket. He can be special, but it’s tough to be special every play being doubled.”

Worth every penny

Wish we had traded for a linebacker.

Dunno where he's ranked now, but he was the 2nd ranked DT behind only Donald according to PFF.

We're wasting Suh's best years by not having a better LB corps. Hopefully that gets fixed in the offseason.

comical statement when you consider Suh is tied for third among defensive tackles with 32 tackles
and is on a pace to having his best season tackle wise in his NFL career

1) Damon Harrison 35 tackles
2) Danny Shelton 33 tackles
3) Ndamukong Suh 32 tackles

Big Suh is a havoc wreaker. He changes game plans. This next offseason must be committed to putting more talent around him. The guy is one of the rare men who can be double teamed and still blow up the play.

If we had a better DT next to him he wouldn't be able to get doubled all the time and he'd make even more plays.

Not having a better DT next to him has been more of a drawback, IMO. It should be high on the draft list for 2017.

Phillips is solid. DT is the last place to be spending resources. Plus there are too many other holes to fix all through out the back 7 and DE is an aging position for us as well.

Disagree. "Solid" is a stretch at this point. Phillips is not consistent enough yet. The coaches will even tell you that much. Will he ever be? Whatever your answer may be, it's speculation at this point. He may or may not fill his potential.

Phillips is playing fine.

Just what you want for a great defense...."Fine"

You won't be saying that when the next team to get a lead on us runs the ball down our throats again. We have been fortunate the last couple of weeks to play like the defense is designed. To play with a lead. We all saw how they looked for the first 5 weeks when that wasn't the case.
