Former MLB pitcher Beck found dead at 38

That's sad.

I'll say right now though that if drugs were involved I have no sympathy, he did it to himself.

As of now though he gets the benefit of the doubt. R.I.P

Anyone who takes drugs to the point of death is an idiot hands down. I would feel bad for the family, but for the person....not at all. If someone is unwilling to take steps to keep themself alive and kick an addiction I shouldn't have to feel bad for them.

Everyone could easily just do drugs and get ****ed up and overdose, but we don't.

I doubt he cares if you feel sorry for him. He didnt ask for your sympathies so if you dont care and say what an idiot why say anything? Do you know that he didnt try to kick any addiction he might have had? Do you know anything about his life of why he might have turned to drugs? You dont turn to drugs, grats, maybe your life hasnt been as hard as others or you havent been faced with the same issues? Maybe you have a different background that doesnt make you as prone to addiction? Is it his fault if he did indeed die of a drug od? Yes. But that doesnt mean it isnt sad or we should say who cares it's his fault screw him. I just dont understand why people post RIP in a thread about someones death and always have to add if he died of drugs I take it back.

I didn't say I hate him
I didn't say I'm glad he is dead

I said IF drugs were involved, he was stupid.
I said IF drugs were involved I didn't feel sorry.

Maybe my life wasn't/isn't as hard as his was. I can tell you what though, I've never had a father, my real father IS a drug addict, I've grown up with no money at all. Yet I've managed to stay drug free my entire life while other people with millions of dollars in their pocket turn to them.

Drug addiction is no-one but the persons fault, no-one MAKES you do drugs.

And money doesnt mean you're happy or that your life is easy.

What you did say was RIP, but it he died from drugs nm. So you came into a thread about a guys death to say, dont RIP? Nice. Again I'm left wondering why people with that point of view have to say anything at all.

Just because I don't feel bad doesn't mean I want him to have a horrible afterlife (if there is one) or something. The R.I.P stands because I mean it either way.

I don't feel bad for people who kill themselves that way. Also I didn't come here to bash. I even said for now I give him the benefit of the doubt in that respect.

Fair enough. Perhaps I overreacted, some peoples post on drug abuse had been bothering me for a bit and maybe I picked the wrong thread/post to voice that.

Calling him an idiot was too far on my part also.....should have gone with 'dumb move' or something. I say things that go far when I'm having bad days/weeks or whatever so I understand, it's cool. :)
 
RIP Beck...

Whatever the reason for his death it was certainly untimely, but I've been thinking...the league has a big steroid problem and steroids are known to cause horrible stuff like this. Not saying he did steroids, there is nothing to link him anywhere so he probably didn't, but this should be a wake up call. Lots of athletes nowadays die young of heart attacks and such, and I suspect steroids/performance enhancers have a lot to do with it.

how could you feel bad for the person that's dead it's not like they have feelings anymore
 
This story is pretty big here locally. He was loved here in the bay area and he was one of my favorites. Very sad.. R.I.P. Rod
