Former Offensive Linemen Weigh In

That is an interesting read. Saying Martin took rookie stuff great without complaining. hmmm

Good quote here about Richie:

"He was a leader, a guy who worked hard and demanded you work hard, too,'' Barker said. "That being said, he talked a lot of smack to people. Usually it was from a place of humor, and people got along with that. People would give it right back to him."

This was a common part of the NFL workplace, these linemen said. Hicks said it was no different with the Dolphins than the other four teams he was a part of.

Exactly, how men deal with that stuff. And it's no different anywhere.

Telling someone that you're going to crap in their mouth, slap their mother and kill them is not smack talk. It's the ramblings of a possible psychopath and goes way over the line.

The NFL is a business and as such must by federal law follow certain professional guidelines.

btw, the US military used to abuse recruits un-mercilessly until it was addressed. I would offer that the US military today is the best in the world.

Good analogy, changing the behavior in the locker room can't be a bad thing and it won't lessen the product on the field....

I think you are right on and in the end this will have no negative affect on the NFL, it will set needed guidlines.
I very much doubt that Miami is the only team that has this issue

The last part of the piece is something I have thought about all this time...him going back to RT has a ton to do with this.

These linemen have dog in the fight and say the same thing.

WHY WHY WHY didn't the writer ask Samuda about Martin hazing him???? WHY???? Can I be a beat writer?

I'll poke my 2 cents in once again. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ROOKIE HAZING/ THE 15K HE SPENT/NOR A VOICE MAIL/ OR BULLYING!!!!!!!!

Martin is a B*TCH and just could not take the pressure. His teamates and coaches rode him hard to perform and he couldnt. He couldn't take the pressure of under performing and walked away from the game. He could not face failure so he is now looking for a way out. The said thig is Martin does not realize that when your teammates and coaches RIDE YOU HARD....... It's becasue they still believe in you and see potential that you can handel the task at hand. If they are not ridign you.... That means your heading to the bench soon and they are looking for your replacement.

This is just sad what he has done and what he is doing!!!!

I'd be willing to bet that boot camp is still not the same as being an intern at Microsoft...... Trying to compare behavior in the locker room to behavior in the meeting room is ridiculous.

Did Incognito go over the line? Most likely, but if it were that simple, Martin's attorneys wouldn't need to leak partial truths to the media. They would release the actual voice recording. They wouldn't need to leave off the last part. They would come clean on the $15k for the trip and not let the media speculate about it. IMO, their behavior weakens Martin's case.

You should go to a playground or an inner city basketball court and write down how kids curse and talk smack to each other.

You will obviously be very surprised

True. However, none of us knows whether that was the real cause of Martin's leaving the team. It's entirely possible he just doesn't want to play football anymore, and is using the only card he has available to continue to be paid.
