▪ NFL Network’s Mike Mayock:
"With Vita Vea, as much as I love him, I'd like him to lose 15 pounds and stay there, and you're going to have to manage that for the next five years. And really the key to his value is how many snaps are you getting from him in a subpackage? And if you believe you're getting significant pass pressure out of him, then yeah, he'd be worth the 11th pick in the Draft. However, there's two question marks with him that would discount him for me.

▪ NFL Network draft and Fox NFL game analyst Charles Davis: “I lean toward Edmunds. He's just 19, but if am doing all the right things and supporting this young man and making sure he is looked after the right way, his talent is breathtaking.”

▪ NFL Network analyst and former Redskins and Texans general manager Charley Casserly: “Linebacker and cornerback were the two biggest needs the Dolphins laid out to me when I talked to them. If Baker Mayfield is gone, Edmunds would be the pick if based on need. But I have James rated ahead of both of them. James might be the best of all of those guys, even with Edmunds there. James can do everything. He can play deep, he can play nickel corner, and he’s a Pro Bowl safety.”

▪ NFL draft analyst Tony Pauline: “Of those five (Smith, Edmunds, Vea, James, Jackson), it would come down to Edmunds or Roquan Smith for me, and I would take Edmunds. He doesn’t have same range as Roquan Smith and is not as fluid as Smith but he’s got better size than Smith, and there’s not as many [negative] mismatches as you would have with Smith, who’s only 6-1.

Mayock says it best, no DT at 11. Smith/Edmunds/Fitz/James, one of those 4 will (hopefully) be there. Take one of those 4 and look for DT and TE in rounds 2 and/or 3.

If Mayfield and Rosen are gone, grab Smith if still available or Edmunds and don't look back!

I'm not worried about taking a DT. They are already on record staying they want to go more rotational at DT. You don't need a 1st round DT with limited pass rushing ability. We can grab rotational ones in the mid to late round.

yup......no more to be said.

I will say this, with picks 11, 42, 73, 119, 127, 201 and 203, I don't think they are going to wait for 74 picks between the end of the 4th and top of the 7th make a selection.

Look for trade down scenario's involving 73, 119 and 127 trying to pick up something in the 160-170's.

Unless your taking a kicker (which is very likely) with one of our 7th round picks, might as well try and move those for 6th's next year.

I would trade my 6th and 7th round picks every year.

a big NO to drafting Vea. It'd be so dumb to do that. I'm hoping our FO has learn it's lesson that you don't spend high on a DT

No. You don't spend high in FA. You draft them on rookie contracts for 4 years with a 5th year option. Last years 11th pick got a 4 year $15M deal. The big contract sticking point is for top 10 guys. It drops off for the 11th player taken. Especially when it comes to 5th year option money. That's a heck of a lot better than $20-26M per year for Suh. I'm not saying that Vea is 100% the guy but drafting is the way to go.

we are just missing a 5th round pick this year because of the trade with New Orleans. I do think we will draft a Kicker in the 6th or 7th round.

I'm not a college football expert, does anyone have examples of how many LB's touted as highly as Edmunds have been busts? It seems to me like it would be a very low percentage.

I just really like what I've been studying about this kid and for me it's between him and Minkah for my dream for round 1. LB is a much greater need so I lean Edmunds.

A big fat NO to Vea!!

What is the minimum we are asking our 3tech to do? This draft seems to have a lot of mid round DT's. Could we find one there?
