FOX OL Rankings

That's very spot on. Have to put us right around the middle. Even though the talent is there on an individual basis, this line has yet to gel and is unproven.

Whoa. #18? That's higher than I would have thought.

One of those situations where I'm sure the OL will start off more like #28 in the league, but may finish up something like #13 in the league.

I was pretty pleased to see us at #18 myself. With one "hole", and some unproven players.. I was expecting a lot more doubt.

18th out of 32 teams. I was expecting our o-line to be in the lower 20's, like #28 or something. But I will take the spot that they gave us.

They're obviously basing it on potential, which we definitely have. How it will all pan out and develop, we shall see. Based on potential alone though, which is all we really have to go on for now, I think we actually could be ranked higher.

wow chiefs are dead last after having that amazing line a couple of years ago

It is a good assessment. Linemen usually aren't busts, so Long and Carey can be great against the pass rush for us. Satele was very good last year as well. Smiley is a proven veteran.

Right guard can be iffy, but most people can't name the guards of the Patriots or the Colts. It is an easier spot to fill.

I agree...hopefully they all stay healthy and they begin to gel as a unit...

I'd like to point out that preseason OL rankings don't block pass rushers. #18 is fine and dandy but doesn't have any bearing how the season is going to go.

Sorry, I guess I'm a realist.

Actually, i think based on potential we'd be ranked a lot higher. I mean if Jake Long pans out as an all-pro tackle, like a Joe Thomas or better then with Vernon Carey and Justin Smiley and Samson Satele i think this can be at least one of the top ten offensive lines in the league. Especially with Satele another year in, more developed, and the rest of the guys developing chemistry and learning the Dolphins offense.

And neither do our linemen, if you believe the camp reports we've been reading, lol.

I like the ratings, but there's no empirical evidence to confirm that a few massive rookies, a recently injury-recovered lineman, a promising 2nd year center coupled with the real-deal Carey will fulfill any such expectations either individually or as a unit. Now, IMO, I agree and think "18" might prove too conservative a rating at season's end, but even as a partisan fan I wouldn't bet the under.
