Hello my fellow Phins fans: :dolphins:

I was making my usual rounds thru the NFL News and Rumor sites and I found this interesting bit of info on NFL FoxSports.com.

Miami Dolphins

Based on all the reports coming from Miami, it would be an upset if Daunte Culpepper isn't starting for the Dolphins in their Thursday night opener. I'm skeptical about Culpepper's value as a No. 1 fantasy quarterback because he isn't likely to pile up rushing yardage anymore. He's creeping up the RotoWorld rankings because of his health. ... The Dolphins still haven't signed a veteran backup running back or traded for Michael Bennett. It could still happen, but it's clear Nick Saban is scrapping the running-back-by-committee that he's preferred in his career. Sammy Morris and Travis Minor are next behind Ronnie Brown on the top depth chart. Don't expect Brown to slip past the first 10 picks of fantasy drafts.

Marty Booker suffered a "minor" ankle sprain worth monitoring when training camp opens. If Culpepper adapts to Miami quickly, Booker could be the next 30-something wideout to have a late-career renaissance. Booker has always been limited by his quarterbacks but still has put up consistent production. Rising: Culpepper  On track to start in Week 1.
Falling: Joey Harrington  Reportedly struggling to keep up with Cleo Lemon.

God, I hope this is true...It would be nice to get out of the gates with Duante at the helm. We would have an excellent chance of beating Pittsburgh that way.....Of course, we can still beat them w/o Duante...He would be icing on the cake!!! Go Phins!!!!

Also pay close attention at the end of this section of the article, where it states that Harrington is having a hard time beating out Lemon. Of course, this is just based on the fact that he hasn't learned our system yet. Once he does, he should be a very capable backup for years to come.

Getting back to Duante, however, how many of you think he will be ready to go by the opener...and will Saban have the stones to play him that soon?

:feedback:

Also plz take some time out and answer the attached poll question on Duante.

Gooooooooooooooo Phinsssssssssssssssssssssssssss!!!!!!!!

Sorry no poll guys...

I was going to include a poll on when you all thought Daunte would play. But you guys can include it with your replies.....

Good Report... But I find this quote somewhat alarming: Falling: Joey Harrington  Reportedly struggling to keep up with Cleo Lemon.

I hope that Joey will come around...

marty booker isn't even 30 yet (yes he will be in a month) but i hate that they make it seem like hes an old player... hes 29 today, hes in his prime...

I have high hopes that Cleo is good enough to beat out Joey for that unearned #2 spot.

Good find man! All information we were pretty aware of, but the more times you hear it, the better! Daunte will be participating in training camp in a month so I defintly expect him to play week 1.

As for my fantasy team, I used my 2nd round pick on Brown and my 3rd round pick on Chambers! :)

This is getting strange. The national media outlets keep saying this, but I don't remember the Miami press ever reporting this during or after the minicamp. Infact, I remember the local guys saying he was fitting in nicely. Did anyone else hear anything negative during or after camp from the local media? What's up with the national press.

Eh, give him time. Cleo Lemon has been in the system longer than Joey. Hell, the spider that is somewhere in the 'Phins locker room has been in the system than Joey. But I think Joey will be able to pick up.

no, you are right.

joey is fine...im actually suprised anyone from this board would be AT ALL worried given we have had way more LOCAL info on whats going on than the very general assumptions the NATIONAL media makes

culpepper starting week1 is not the question...it has NOT been the question for about a month now. no, what remains to be seen, is how long before his knee swells and he has to sit.

he will start week1, how long before he has to sit a couple games is the question.

Good read, thanks. Joey will be fine, give him some time to get used to our system, has loads of talent and a strong & accurate arm, just needs time to learn the system and get comfortable with his new team & receivers.

As much as I want him to be on the field week 1, I don't think it would be smart unless he's absolutely, positively 100%. I would rather have a Culpepper on the bench the first 4 weeks at 95% than playing. I do not like the thought of losing him for the rest of this coming season and possibly the entire next season because they jumped the gun on bringing him back. As for whether or not he will be 100%, I'm pulling for it, but I'm not sure it will happen. It would be a halfway medical miracle, but Culpepper is an incredible athlete, so I'm keeping the faith.
