The Dolphins already signed their man, Michigan OT Jake Long, who is physical, tough and a hard worker. The debate still rages between whether he is a right or left tackle, but regardless, he should be a starter. However, the best pick might have been his Michigan teammate in quarterback Chad Henne with the 57th overall choice. Henne is a very competitive player and figures to compete with John Beck and Josh McCown at the position. On defense, Miami added Clemson DE Phillip Merling, who had 12 sacks in 26 games, and Kendall Langford from tiny Hampton, who figures to be an end in the 3-4 scheme. Langford is 6-foot-6, 300 pounds.
Grade: B+

Surprised at the Henne call but nice... I'm glad people are starting to have faith in us again. Any thoughts?

Most people that are informed like our draft.

Sorry, that was a cheap shot at the haters. You're informed. Just not AS informed. :)

I agree that is what we deserve. And I also agree that Henne might be a great player for us in some time. I really like Henne and knew we were going to draft him as soon as Flacco was drafted by the ravens.

It wasnt a FLASHY draft but we got some foundations to build on..

Id say we got 3 starters

Long, Merling, Langford and Murphy should all be starting...

Henne sits on the bench this season :d-day: and Roth gets demoted

I find it funny that we got C and C- grades for our draft last year from similar publications who are actually informed..

You guys all thought it was a "A" grade draft with you guys saying Soliai was a steal and the one-dimensional Lorenzo Booker was going to be the next Leon Washington BS talk.

Now this year we are getting B grades for our draft from these same publications.. And now some of you people here on the board grade this draft as a D or C ??

It seems to me that you guys are always wrong. Just stick with people who know what they're talking about. We had a very good draft.

i thought we had a solid draft last year...for reasons which im sure have been discussed to great length on here...

this year...we had a great draft for US...and what i mean by that is we are in a unique situation in that we have a new owner, new president, new gm, new coach, new system...much like every other move thus far, we are building inside-out...in the draft we got 3 starters and added some nice depth and more guys who can contribute on special teams...our defense got bigger and younger and our offense got bigger and meaner...we are going to play with an attitude and a chip on our shoulders this coming year...and while talent wise, we definitely arent close...we foundation has been set...and its a foundation that should see the playoffs soon enough...and when that happens...anything can happen...like a 6th seed beating an undefeated team

I'll stick with judging for myself when I see them play for us, but thanks for trying to make me think you know more than I do.
:rolleyes2:

You said it, if you were watching the draft at a particular time chris carter was talking about the chiefs, draft who drafted all highly rated well known players and he said "lets hope there not drafting for someone elses team" meaning that make sure they are picking guys best for there team and people that fit in within there team. And that is exactly what miami did, they didnt pick people who others were hyping or pepole that were highly touted but werent exactly what they were looking for. They just went about there business and got guys that fit out team. Like you said we had a good draft for US.

i concur :woot::up:

Roth did play some OLB in college so maybe he'll play outside and be as good there as he was in school...we do have some DE's now that can play there...I think Roth and Moses can play OLB for us in the new system

Ozzy rules!!
