I know but saying how things are. Amazing how good a prospect that James became once we drafted him. Before that all u hear was don't overdraft based on need. There was no uprising touting James as a guy that we should pick. It seems people just convinced themselves
fwiw, I was touting him and I don't believe I was alone in that. I don't think we should have taken him without at least trading down, but that's on Hickey, not James.
That said, we both agree this o-line is a huge question mark with rookies, newbies, injuries, new coaches and a new scheme. Frankly, if it were anything better than vaguely competent up to the bye week, that would be close to a miracle and John Benton would be a genius in my eyes.
That's the challenge set by the FO for this oline and (with an extra OG signing before the draft) it didn't have to be as big a gamble.
Those people criticising the defense are tilting at windmills. The problem is the offense. If you don't score avg 25ppg you aren't going to the playoffs, its as simple as that. For the past 3 or 4 years, we've been a whole TD per game shy of the benchmark, while our D fought like tigers to keep us in a bunch of low-scoring games.
