What is everyone's opinion on the TE from USC Fred Davis. I think he is a playmaker and will be very good maybe with one of our second rounders because David Martin is trash and Justin Pelle is a backup.

He's a good pass catcher but is pretty much average in all other aspects. Hasn't been productive until this season and is still learning. But he's still an upgrade over what we have. Probably someone who can get 500 yards a season with a couple of TD's.

I have him getting selected by the Packers in the first.

i have followed fred since he was a high school recruit USC finally moved him to TE half way through last year he was a great WR but out grew it, being a Hurricane fan i remember UM telling him his future was at TE and there he his now we is still learning the postion ex. Blocking wish is average at best would have to be very patient with him but would love to have him in the 2nd round think in a couple year a Gates type player OH THANK GOD FINHEAVEN LIVES:woot:

I think Davis, along with Martellus Bennett and Brad Cottam will be the tight end targets.

The Packers seem pretty set with Donald Lee. You know, that one guy we simply let walk. :tantrum:

Here is Donald and Atari Bigby

:hi5:
Left- Donald: "Hey, Atari, we got out of Miami and now have a shot at a Super Bowl."
Right- Atari: "HI FIVE!"

And Fred Davis is a stud. The unique thing about Fred is his ability to create a mismatch no matter where he lines up. Put him on the end of the line and he can blow past much slower linebackers. Put him in the slot and watch him physically dominate much smaller corners. I had him as the missing link in Cam's system but now, who knows?

Definitely like Davis, wouldn't mind him at 32 at all.

I would select him at 32.

Me too....good to great TE's are harder to come by then WR's. We need some size guys who can block and run routes with Randy McMike gone. I think he would be a nice pickup at # 32.

The things I'm looking at out of Davis in the Combine are his speed and strength. That will determine whether he becomes an elite TE worthy of pick #32 or just an above-average one you can get later in the 2nd/3rd round. Really took him a while to get it started at $C.

there are several reasons for his lack of production at USC.

1)Dominque Byrd
2)Reggie Bush
3)LenDale White
4)Steve Smith
5)Dwayne Jarrett.

USC never really needed to get Davis the ball. However, with such a young and inexperienced WR corp this year, he stepped up.

Perhaps, but I would've figured he'd have beaten out Byrd, who hasn't exactly produced well in the pros himself, beforehand.
