"In a move that won't surprise many who have followed his activity (or lack thereof) in training camp and the preseason, the Chiefs have cut receiver Freddie Mitchell, a league source has informed us.

Mitchell, a first-round selection in a 2001 draft that has included more than its share of round-one receiver busts, was cut by the Eagles in the offseason. After spending some time on the shelf and not getting many sniffs, he signed with the Chiefs."

I actually thought that there was a legitimate possiblity of Freddie Mitchell getting released with the WR Core Kansas City has: Kennison, Parker, Hall, Horn, Thorpe, and Boerigter... there's just no room for Freddie Mitchell. Kind of sad though for the fact that he couldn't beat out any of them.

It wasn't that Freddie couldn't beat out any of them, it was he didn't get a chance to beat out any of them. He was hurt 3/4 of training camp.
