Both guys are under the radar, Johnson even has a number in the 40's, not a good sign for most TE's..........I think both have the skills to be solid professional players and contribute big this year. Both fit in well with this offense. What do you guys think?

i think johnson has that # because we ran out of 80's.
i think johnson will do great but i dont no much about gibson

teyo looks more like a reciever, he doesnt look that strong

He is a receiver and he should be kept as a goal-line specialist.

Fred Gibson Grade: 3.61
Position: WR
Class: Sr
School: Georgia
Conference: SEC
Ht., Wt.: 6-4, 196
40 Time: 4.62
Selected by: Pittsburgh Steelers

Round 4, pick 30 (131 overall)

BIO: Three-year starter who saw limited action with the first team as a freshman. All-Conference selection last year after posting 49/801/7. Has 10 100-yard career receiving games to his credit.

POSITIVES: Fluid pass catcher with excellent size/speed numbers. Solid route runner who is sharp into breaks and stays low on exit. Extends to snatch the ball from the air, quickly transitions to running after the catch and displays a burst of speed. Easily adjusts to the errant throw or gets down to scoop up the low pass. Deceptively fast and runs to the deep ball. Tracks the pass in the air, runs well laterally and shields opponents away with his frame. Nicely times receptions getting vertical to high point the ball. Possesses soft, sure hands.

NEGATIVES: Does not win out in battles like he should or hears footsteps then gathers into receptions. More built-up speed than sudden explosion. Loses focus, concentration and as a result drops a lot of catchable throws.

ANALYSIS: An athletic prospect with an abundant amount of natural ability, Gibson shows flashes of dominance on the field, yet has been spotty with his dedication to football. Possesses first-round skill and the ability to develop into a No. 1 receiver at the next level, yet must motivate himself and prove that he is willing to pay the price.

PROJECTION: Late Third Round

3.74 to 3.45 -- Future Starter -- A good athlete that must learn to be a football player or someone who is an “overachiever”. Quality prospect with long term potential

looks like coach saban grabbed another steal in free agency, if he can develop into our offesive scheme...

I am not really big on Teyo Johnson. He was a second round pick that could not last more than two years with the Raiders. That is understandable, and maybe he could turn his career around. Then, he signs with the Cardinals. Now remeber the Cardinals top TE's are Bobby Blizzard and Eric Anderson. Yet, the Cardinals also become dissatisfied and release him. These are two bad teams that cut him, and both dont even have a quality TE. And the Dolphins dont even think the world of him. They signed Justin Peele to be the top backup, plus they already have Alex Holmes. Teyo is probably a "body" with the possibility of him resurrecting his talent. If he is lucky, he will be the third TE. Dont get your hopes up.

Fred Gibson was a fourth round pick last season that could not even make the Steelers practice squad. Only DT Attiyah Ellison and Maurice Clarett were higher picks who did not make there teams. Also, Gibson was never able to impress the Dolphins enough to ever bring him on to the active roster despite injuries to the Dolphins WR core. However, unlike Teyo I believe that Gibson has a realistic chance of fixing what is wrong and maybe becoming the Fins 5th reciever.

Dont get too excited about either player, in fact there are other signings like Deke Cooper and Andre Goodman that should have excited people around here more.

Agree.

IF Fred Gibson hit the weight room in the offseason he would have improved.....If not the DB's of the league are going to continue to punk and jam him at the line...which is what his problem is at this level. But being that he is from THE GREAT University of Georgia.....He will have done what he needed to do to improve this year......Look forward to him showing that talent this year.....Dawgs always show up.

Teyo Is Very Good Was In Aldavis Dog House , Hes Got Real Deal Skills Great Basketball Player Also,#47 So? Dallas Clark Colts Is #44, No Big # Thing

This time of year guys with great triangle numbers often get "one more chance" by coachs who think they will be the one who will finally get said player to work up to his potential. Gibson and Johnson are two such guys. If the light switches on for either or both we will have caught lightning in a bottle. Both have the talent to make it big, but whether they have the necessary drive remains to be seen.

Gibson's got potential, seems like kind of a dumb *** though from watching him in college.

Johnson could potentially be money to have around in goal-line or short yardage passing situations.

teyo is a TE not a reciever

He was a reciever in college and was moved to TE in the NFL. It wasn't exactly a great thing so there was talk when he signed w/ Miami that he might be moved back to WR.

Teyo Johnson was thought to be a "tweener" between WR and TE coming out of college. There was lots of talk about him being a major red zone threat with his size. Oakland tried to make him a traditional TE and it never worked. He and Al Davis had some well publicized clashes.

Of the two on this thread Johnson has more production at a higher level than Gibson, but again both are reclamation projects. Johnson needs to find a position, Gibson a work ethic.
