Freddie Solomon, former Fin, dead at 59

R.I.P. Freddie

I remember the game where he scored touchdowns on a pass reception, punt return and on a run. Pretty sure it was a Monday night game. Too bad he didn`t stay in Miami, he and Nat Moore would`ve been a great duo. I liked Delvin Williams (especially when went for over 1,200 yds in `78) but SF definitely got the better of that deal!

Awsi, I am a fan. I absolutely love your accounts of your real time experiences and memories.

I'm a bit younger than you, so my memory may be foggier than yours, but wasn't Matt Cavanaugh, the quarterback, also dealt with Solomon to the 49ers? Cavanaugh is an offensive assistant somewhere now. Who ended up being selected with the number one pick that was included?

Delvin ended up having a 1200 yard year in like '78, and thanks for the memory about the aging Csonka coming back to Miami in '79 after a stint with the NYG. If I recall correctly, Delvin suffered from narcolepsy. Csonka exceeded my expectations in '79.

Man, I loved the Griese spectacles. He wore those during the Thanksgiving game against the St Louis Cardinals in maybe '78 where we scored like 55 points. The funny thing was I was nervous about the Cards before the game and Griese just lit them up.

Those Dolphin running backs from that mid to late 70s period were pretty lackluster. Don Nottingham, Norm Bulaich, Benny Malone. I was awfully young to fully understand their abilities, but they seemed lackluster. Malone ran high with those knees, and we were hopeful with him, but he was frankly rather pedestrian.

Anyway, keep 'em coming with your stories. I need an alert so I don't miss them.
