when we get into this offseason and people see our situation i have the feeling some opinions on jeff ireland will change.
we are 20 mil under the 2014 cap but the reason is all these guys are free agents.
starks
soliai

clemons

also vernon and clay are scheduled to make 760k and 670k respectively. their agents will probably have other ideas.
lousy drafts and bad FA contracts catch up with you folks and we're about to get a first hand look.
I look at that list and I see one guy I'd really hate to see get away: Grimes.
All the others at this point are just other guys. OK, maybe not so much Starks and Soliai, but I think a lot of our fanbase looks at their play from 2-3 years ago as opposed to this year, and, IMO, their play has dropped off considerably. I don't think either will be worth it to Miami compared to what they'll be asking, and some desperate franchise would overpay for them. Plus, neither of them was a high draft pick for Miami; just goes to prove you can find replacements without burning two high picks or killing your cap.
Keller, if he can play, probably can be brought back for a reasonable price, and the same can be said for Clemons. There's no crime in letting any or all of the others go.
I honestly wouldn't be opposed to drafting a DT that can push the pocket with the first pick and then looking multiple OL, LB, RB, S after that. A DT who can rush the passer like Starks and Soliai did in the past and have done on occasion this year is a big advantage ... just look at how Kyle Williams wrecked our offense yesterday.
I think you can get solid linemen in the middle rounds and even get a young guy or two there through free agency. Not sure how much value there's be picking an OL in the lower teens/upper 20s in the first round ... might not be much of a dropoff looking there later, especially if you can get a disruptive DT or playmaking, versatile LB in the first round.
