Everyone is aware of the needs of our team: offensive line, qb situation, wr, getting younger dlineman, olb, and secondary. Coming into the offseason it looked like there would be some nice options at a couple of these positions. Well, lance briggs olb chicago bears and asante samuel cb new england patriots have been franchised. Donte Stallworth looks like a good option and is interested in coming here but look at the wide receiver market this offseason.

Donte Stallworth will be WAY overpaid by some team that has more money. We are in the middle of the pack when it comes to money to spend this offseason and personally i dont want to be "that" team that gives a mediocre player a 5 or 6 million/year contract.

Adalius Thomas and Nate Clements are also going to command huge contracts based on the market this offseason. most likely out of our price range.

So where does that leave us? In perfect position to make a huge push and make it our #1 priority to sign Dielman. As soon as possible sign Dielman. Then its a possibility but we could go after steinbach or dotchery as well. Mixing up the oline positions and such.

The overall talent in this years market is the lowest ive ever seen. Our best bet would be to overpay for a probowl olineman then overpay a mediocre wr. I would love to sign thomas or clements but realistically we won't be able to compete with the teams 30 million below the cap that Want to overpay the stars and need to make a splash in free agency.

So get me Dielman and possibly another olineman or mediocre defensive back and ill be happy going into the draft. Just do NOT overpay for the injuryprone stallworth or make a trade giving up draft choices for any player.

Get Dielman and let's get to the draft!

Great post agree with what your saying but for the right price i think stallworth would help us out here alot but only for the right price not some rediculous salary. But dielman should be our highest priority hes a mauler in the run game we need someone to open some damn holes for ronnie.

agree, fix the OL problem is first priority and for that sign dielman and why not petitgout or steinbach (if we retructure zach and jason contract we could get enough money to do that).

In the draft we could found QB (if quinn falls) and OLB (everett, siler, blades) and CB (mc cauley or bennet) help needed.

For the WR IMO it's not a very pressing need like OL but just MO.

lol just saw this on espn.com

1. Waiting for a better wave: Watch for the top teams to skip free agency's expensive first wave. The Colts, Patriots, Bengals, Chargers, Eagles, Ravens, Panthers and others probably will sit out the big spending. Their money will go into re-signings. Fans might be antsy if their home teams don't go big into free agency, but spending in free agency doesn't necessary translate into victories. The Colts won a Super Bowl by adding only kicker Adam Vinatieri, who signed for $2.4 million a year. The Chargers added only safety Marlon McCree and backup tight end Aaron Shea, and won 14 games. The Patriots went to the AFC Championship Game and their net gain out of free agency was Reche Caldwell, who made $900,000 last year.

I've seen just the last name Bennett written in a few posts. Could someone please tell me which Bennett we're talking about because I can't think of him for the life of me.

Drew Bennett of TEN. And I think that the 49ers will be the main FA spenders.

They will probably sign Clements "and" Thomas and draft a WR in the 1st round.

Look out for SF next season.

Why would you sign Dielman, a LG and then try and sign two other LG's and play them at different spots?

I'd rather give Toledo and Fonuti a shot at LG and cut or trade Jeno James.
Then spend the money on Nate Clements and trade down in the draft and get another pick and draft Laron Landry or Jarvis Moss in the 1st and take Joe Staley in the second.

But the point is YYYAAAAAAA!! This years FA crop is terrible; but.....that also means this is a very good year to make trades and pick up additional picks, especially 2nd round picks. There is a load of talent in that 2nd round.

I love Samson Satele in the late second or early 3rd round.

We also need to make a trade for a mid second round pick and draft mason Crosby, making Mare's trade value soar. Any trade value at all for Mare would mean his value soared. Teams can get pretty desperate at times for a place kicker. There seems to be a shortage these days of guys around the league that you can just pick up and have them be reasonably reliable.

Fred Bennett CB South Carolina is who they are talking about....

I think we will have the cap to make a move for some key Free Agents....
Releasing Bennie Anderson, Dan Wilkinson, Seth McKinney, Jeno James, and Joey Harrington is another 16 million in cap room.

The Free Agents I think we should target are...

Kris Dielman G Chargers
Kawika Mitchell LB Chiefs
Jordan Black T Chiefs or Luke Petigout(Sp?) T Giants

My Dolphins Mock:
1st: Alan Branch DT Michigan
2nd: Lamarr Woodley DE/OLB Michigan
3rd: RYan Harris T Notre Dame
4th: Ryan Smith CB Florida
6th: Dan Mozes C/G West Virginia
7th: David Halloway LB Maryland

It's Drew Bennett, not Fred Bennett that they're discussing.

Why would you sign Dielman, a LG and then try and sign two other LG's and play them at different spots?

because steinbach also can play tackle and dotchery could play rg. They are the best prospects that we have a chance of grabbing.

Someone said it before but San Fran is sitting 30 mill under and is looking to grab 2 of the best free agents out there (espn.com). Clements and Thomas sure look like the guys they are gonna grab. We can't get into a bidding war with a team that has 10 million less dollars than us..

one of things espn said is with this increased sallary cap, the free agent market will have less and less talent and many teams will have millions to "overspend" on the top guys that reach free agency. So guys like donte stallworth, cato june, vonnie holliday, and some other mediocre players will get a lot more money than they deserve

i think as far as free agents go i hope we sign a olb and a olineman but not stallworth. the receivers in this draft is excellent and i would nto be surprised if we take two wrs and a tight end. and truthfuly i would draft nt ryan mcbean in the 4th or 5th round and draft one linebacker and this would aloow us to add some serious firepower on offense.

official member of the draft D'juan woods and Dewayne Jarrett fan club!!!! lets get my boys D'juan and dewayne jarrett and go win us a super bowl.
