If he test free agency how much money would he cost us to get him? If we are able to get him that will make it easier for us to draft BPA of CB. If we sign Derrick Johnson I would still love for Miami to draft Myles Jack for OLB because he will be a beast in the NFL, just watch his college tape. Then we can draft CB in the second round. It all depends on OV now, hopefully he's not greedy and goes for the money. He went to the U so my guess is he would love to stay in Miami but you know how money talks.

In 2005 he was the guy I really wanted us to draft its amazing he is still chugging strong while most of his class has fallen

So what could a Derrick Johnson contract look like? Cap expert and former agent Joel Corry of CBS Sports recently said that a comparable contract could be Karlos Dansby's four-year, $24 million contract.

@corryjoel Hey Joel, quick question for you. Is Karlos Dansby's 4 yr, $24M deal a fair comparison for Derrick Johnson?

@BKSportsTalk Probably the best comparison when age is taken into consideration.

Dansby was 32 years old when he signed that contract. DJ is 33 now.

He would be a solid get and shore up the mike issues for probably 1-2 years. I wouldn't change my draft if we do sign him.

If that's what he costs and he gets away from KC (which I'm very doubtful of) he should be near the top of our list. We need veteran leaders who are still productive. Like a Dansby... especially a veteran leader in the middle of the defense and at a massive position of need. Now, even if he tests the market, I think we'd be playing second fiddle to the Cowboys. Texas native, former longhorn, and McCain is an FA so they're going to have a big need in the middle. My money would be on him being a Chief or a Cowboy come next season. Chiefs are the heavy favorite, really no reason for me to think they'd have any issues ironing out a contract.

love him...Absolutely hope he is on our radar...They have to sign both Berry and him...the amazing thing about the cap in KC is that Charles is signed for around $6 million.Thinking they must be in fairly decent cap position atm.

Berry already came out and said KC is 'home' I expect him to stay in KC.

They are sitting right around 30 million in cap space however both berry, johnson and smith are free agents. Both berry and smith are going to cost around 8-10 million a year so with johnsons age, he may be the odd man out

Id love to get him. But that's really sad for us that Berry calls KC home, so you know he's not going anywhere. But man the FS Pickens are gonna be slim

Three Bengals I'd take a hard look at in free agency: LB Vincent Rey, FS Reggie Nelson and DT Brandon Thompson.

Do you guys see us gong after any of these players since our DC knows them well ?

We could use help at all three positions.

Maybe one ? I saw Rey had gotten a two year extension last time around beacuse although he was tendered like 1M there was interest from other teams. He got a 2 year 4.2M contract.

Might be unrealistic to see Nelson get away from cinci too...

quiten demps? Rashad Johnson? Seem like some solid band aids
