With the notion that Riley Reiff is looking more and more likely to play guard in the NFL (opinion of many NFL scouts), are any of these FA RTs a good value for the Fins?

Levi Brown? Career LT but from what I understand, he's not very good. Maybe a switch to the right side is just what he needs. Picked 5th overall in the 2007 NFL draft.

Jared Gaither- seems like he has the most upside but injured a lot I believe?

Demetrius Bell- Thoughts?

Anthony Collins- Seems like a good value pickup for the Fins

Any ideas how to address the RT position this offseason? Reiff scares me. I dont mind seeing Jerry and Murtha compete but they still kinda scare me. Luckily though, anything will be better than Colombu.

If we sign Peyton, I could even imagine us trading back in the first and drafting DeCastro.. With Long, DeCastro, Pouncey, Incognito and Collins/Murtha/Jerry, thats one hell of a OL. Run all day to the left!

I don't know if I'd want to grab DeCastro. I've heard too many times that he's not 1st round talent, and that he's not as good as where he'll be drafted.

I'd rather sign a guard like Ben Grubbs or Evan Mathis that way we can keep Jerry at RT (where he played well last year) and focus on playmakers in the draft.

It is a very very weak free agent tackle market this year. We might be best suited with simply a veteran stop gap (not named Colombo) or addressing the position with a later round pick.

If Collins can be signed cheap to compete with Murtha, Garner, and Jerry, then I'm fine with it. Otherwise, either draft a guy high, or let one of our 3 guys in house take the spot.

anybody but Colombo. And I dont know where people heard that DeCastro isnt 1st round talent; I heard he's the next Steve Hutchinson actually. Id rather solidify our OL an draft Jonathan Martin from Stanford at RT, and sign Grubbs or Nicks to play RG. Thus we are set for 10 years almost

Other way around. Sign a RT in FA. Martin and Reiff aren't worth top ten picks. DeCastro is, assuming we're going OL in the first.

If we do the Manning/Wayne deal, we're going o-line early. No question, in my mind. The fans will forgive the FO on the basis we have Peyton and he needs protection.

Having said that, if 15 was seen as a bit early to take a center, a guard at 8 is even more of a stretch. I've no doubt we'll try to trade down (Ireland reportedly tries to move every year) but not sure we'll succeed. The most important thing though, will be to give Manning time in the pocket to work his magic and for us to continue to open lanes for our combo of Thomas/Bush/Messam to make yards. With so many defenses focussing on pass pro, there's definitely scope for getting plenty of yardage out of a de-emphasized run defense. Any lineman we sign better be able to keep those gaps open as well as protect "Plate-on" Manning.

Just because Mando found a scout to say that Riley Reiff was a guard does not mean he is...

This is the problem with our RT. There are no quality RT's in FA yet do we go Oline again in round one of the draft?

Tough decisions.

i'd go after gaither or collins...gaither probably comes cheaper...levi browns not worth the money he thinks he's worth...but really you can wait for some long in the tooth vet to be cut and find a serviceable 1 year right tackle depth player at worst anyways

but just don't sign another dreadful one off the street like colombo...

Re-sign Carey at right tackle, put jerry back at guard and draft a guy or bring in a free agent that can do both.

Yes to the bolded suggestion above!

I keep on hearing that the Rams are going forward without Jason Smith the 2nd pick of the draft a few years back. He has been a complete bust on the left and right side and all I can think maybe a change of scenery, not as much pressure on him and a monster like Jake to help him out; will hopefully improve his game. And being a complete bust I cant see him getting a big contract, if the Fins can some how get him here with an incentive based contract, and he is half the player he was in Baylor or was suppose to be that is a win win for both sides.

I disagree on that one. I think Gaither is going to get paid based on what he did replacing Marcus McNeil. He was originally a very highly thought of player coming out of Maryland.

Collins is going to be the best value but Miami isn't going to sign any of them.

Miami isn't going to sign a Right Tackle, IMO. I think they'll draft a tackle to train on as the swing backup at both positions, someone like Tom Compton...however, the starter will probably be Lydon Murtha.
