Free Agent RTs

Miami isn't going to sign a Right Tackle, IMO. I think they'll draft a tackle to train on as the swing backup at both positions, someone like Tom Compton...however, the starter will probably be Lydon Murtha.
.

You are probably right. I could easily see our line next year being long/incognito/pouncey/Jerry/Murtha, with Garner as the primary guard backup, and a mid round draft pick being the swing tackle.

I think one way or another they'll pick up a new starter at Guard...but I think Murtha is being tabbed as their Right Tackle.

If we do draft a right tackle in the 1st rd, please trade back and get another pick to boot.

yeah the more i think about it the more i think gaither may cost more than collins...gaither though unless i'm mistaken has had weight and injury issues but i'm also sure the chargers would like to keep him as a swing tackle

collins probably is the cheapest route...not sure what i think of making murtha the starter...that kid struggled with speed off the edge in the preseason last year imo i guess we could give him some help on that side when he needs it...if we get a new starter at guard which is what i'd like to see anyways a real left guard upgrade i guess john jerry goes back to the bench along with garner...and incog moves to what he should be right guard...

i don't see us investing in a left guard high end level free agent upgrade if its coming imo its coming from the draft and i think there's some solid interior guard/right tackle prospects in this draft...

is satele really gonna be "expensive"??? to that i say no thanks

i doubt grubbs is goin anywhere...and he'll be looking for mad loot anyways

Just because Mando found a scout to say that Riley Reiff was a guard does not mean he is...

This is the problem with our RT. There are no quality RT's in FA yet do we go Oline again in round one of the draft?

Tough decisions.

Armando is right this time.

Reiff arms are shorter and weaker than desired to play tackle at NFL. That's a fact. Not just a brain flatulence of some scout.

I don't think he's going to be expensive but I think Mike Brisiel will be cheaper and Samson Satele is not a possibility anyway. Jeff Ireland may be taking some direction from the coaching staff on the type of prospects to look for but he's not going to be bullied to such an extent that he signs back a player like Satele that he purposely got rid of because philosophically he doesn't like that kind of player. Jason Taylor was kind of a special case. Taylor fit the profile physically but it was a Parcells call to find the biggest swinging dick in the locker room and neuter him in order to send the locker room a message. Parcells does that everywhere he goes.

i've never liked satele anyways...not when he was here and not in oakland...too much finesse for my taste

Collins is very good and an excellent pass protector. I would go Collins and sign Decastro. DeCastro allows Incognito to play his best position of RG. A line of LONG-DECASTRO-POUNCEY-INCOGNITO-COLLINS is very very good.

I'd rather sign a guard like Ben Grubbs or Evan Mathis that way we can keep Jerry at RT (where he played well last year) and focus on playmakers in the draft.
I agree. I don't see why so many would want Murtha there, Jerry was at least okay, and did fairly well at LT (except the Eagles game). I think once FA goes settles down, we will know a lot more how the draft will go and where our line will fall...
