Free Agents do not want to play for a Lame Duck HC

I'd retire before playing for Tony Sparano (and this organization as a whole) unless I was absolutely broke.

Miami never made a formal offer for Orton because the process never got
that far.

NUBS: i dont think many of the folks here are accepting this. i have been posting it for the last 4 days that [even though this regime are idiots] they are not the ones at fault in this deal not going through. its been talked about by everyone on the nfl shows from la canfora, clayton, shefter, mike n mike, etc.... that the deal never got past orton and his agent! all those hours over the weekend ireland spent on the phone were with orton and his agent, NOT john elway and john fox!!

this is what orton is doing: he is not happy about the broncs wanting to throw him out with the bath water after yet another productive year [cant blame him]. he decided to drag his feet on all trades, let the market dry up and embarrass tebo in camp. and he has done that. in his mind, this forces the broncs to keep him but also pay him his money due on his contract.

well, the broncs just may have fallen into his plan, but, they can still cut him to not have to pay him that money. now, he rolled the dice letting the clubs that needed qb's make there moves, miami the only team seemingly still interested, but i think what may happen is the broncs cut him andf he then faces not getting close to what he would get starting with the broncs as he tried to force them to do.

i think the redskins and the dolphins will then mix it up for orton. i think the skins are waiting on that move and hiding there tell showing there [weird] infatuation with john beck. i think miami wins his services as i feel he would want south florida over d.c., but, dandy dan shells out big, big, stupid money when he wants a player and miami could very well get priced out of the deal.

i really think miami is not responsable for this deals hang up at all. i think they would have given the 3rd and paid orton 7 mil or so with a lot of attainable incentives. but orton is playing this out as he sees fit.

we shall see...........

I can see that argument resonating more so with the Daboll and the offense than with Nolan and his defense. And FWIW no matter how Orton might have come to us, not everyone thinks we "missed out" on a guy who's lost 7 more games than he's won in the last 2 years and has a 60.8 QBR on 3rd downs - especially for a straight up 3rd, let alone the second and starting DL they were purported to be asking. Would he mean 2 more games in our win column? Maybe. But factually, we're better off winning 5 or 6 games in our div than 8 or 9 and shaking our present QB cadre either in or out. Personally I don't think Tony puts this club's best face on with FAs...and I dunno whether Ireland does either from an enthusiasm building standpoint - but if the present hand they've dealt themselves falls flat, either one or both will be gone so is that all bad?

First of all I think anyone can hardly call Burnett and Columbo "impact" pickups. Bottom line is that this team has not looked good in the front office. I do not think that anyone in the world did not believe that we needed help in two key areas this year. QB and RB. We passed on some highly rated talent in the draft and in FA. So now our improved offensive hope lies on Chad Henne at QB, and Reggie Bush and a later round rookie. Bush is injury prone and has not proven to be an every play back and the rookie is unproven. So what have we really done to solve our problems and fulfill Ross' mandate to be a more wide open team? I think the poster has a point.

Are you talking about Daniel Thomas, the 2nd round pick?

So when Ahmad Bradshaw and Plaxico Burress said they wanted to play in Miami, they were going against their agents' advice?

And it leads to the point that when Ross was flying around the country courting Harbaugh and fails to deliver, he must make a move and replace the guys he was more than willing to fire had he landed Harbaugh. Keeping GMs and coaches around after you attempt to replace them is definately a bad signal to the rest of the league. People notice.

Was that even a sentence? Also, it didn't even answer the original question.

I am responding while sitting in rush hour so sometimes I hit send to quick. I know it was on profootballtalk for sure.

I searched PFT and either I missed it, or nothing like that is on there. Went back all the way until mid 2010 and saw nothing on PFT.

This was around the Dez Bryant and Ryan Clarke drama if memory serves me correct.

Ok, I searched on their website during that time frame. No results. I searched in Google with a wide variety of different wording to get a hit, nothing. Any other suggestions where I can find at least one of these "several" reports that are out there?

I read PFT everyday and never seen them say agents are steering there clients away from Miami, and to WV Ross wasn't looking to replace the GM, only sparano. Look the front office changed some things up, we got more Playmaking ability w/bush and speed at wr w/gates. Get the Oline straight early and see what henne can do. none of the qb's in free agency or trade wise are that exciting anyways.
