Sparano: Starting free safety spot still up in air between Jones and Clemons.

I'm happy to see this. Clemons is fast and doesn't miss a lot of tackles, but has stone hands that could have turned a few games in our favor last season. I'm hoping Jones will show us something next preseason game to earn him a start in the regular season.

I don't think that it is going to matter who the starter is... The will likely be splitting time and we will get to see both of them during the season....

Im pulling for Jones to be the starter. I have nothing against clemons but he's just to conservative much like our offense last year. Reshad has that ability to locate and snag the ball and hes a hard hitter i love that in him.. Jones kind of reminds me of a Sean Taylor(rip) and Ryan Clark mixed together

Jones has yet to persuade me that he can be left on an island with the best of them running around. (not that clemmons could give a clinic on the matter... but he's better in open field IMO and is OK )

Nice trainning camp battle, best of luck to both of them

I tend to think Clemons wins, but that Jones plays quite a bit. Clemons is the last line of defense usually in the D, and he's good at that part of his job.

I like both guys, but each offer their own certain talents at the position. Personally, I hope they both continue to develop and will both be our starters in the future

I think in a defense this good, you are better to have a more conservative guy who make not make the big play, over a guy who could be considered a weak link with the amount of plays he may give up . . . in spite of the big plays he may cause.

I'd roll with Clemmons . . . the guy improved big time from year 1 to year 2 . . . I think he'll take another step in year 3.

Jones just seems like a SS. Solid against the run with some playmaking ability and strong on special teams. Sounds like Y Bell in his earlier days.

On the fip side, with an offense as bad as ours has been you better have somebody on D that can catch some balls. The D certainly wasn't to blame for any of our losses last season but they could have won us a few more games if we didn't have 100 dropped ints

true, and I'm hoping Josh Freeman tests this secodary on Saturday.

Clemons is just OK, and that's the problem. He hasn't ever made a play that I said "WOW". Though he has made plays where I said "C'mon Man!" like the INT that bounced off his hands, off his foot and up into the receiver's hands for a TD. He hasn't ever made a play that Jones couldn't make; He has taken bad angles, he has been beaten in coverage and his missed tackles so let's not pretend he's some rock back there.

Extreme example here . . . if Reshad Jones looks like Ed Reed on one play and Girbril Wilson on another play . . . and Clemmons just plays steady and doesn't make mental mistakes, but doesn't make big plays . . . . who would you prefer?

Polamalu gets beat in coverage, so does Ed Reed . . . they all do, question is, the amount of times they get beat . . . and Clemmons was not bad last year . . . way better than what we had in 2009.
