Thank you....

Nice reponse, i'll have to agree to disagree. :)thedayafter said:“You evaluate drafts two or three years out,†said a Western region scout. “With that thinking, Alex Smith is the best quarterback in the draft. He’ll grow into his body. He is thin-hipped right now. But he’s tall enough, and he’ll be big enough. He’s a really good athlete. He’s a much better runner than the other two (juniors).
“Alex Smith can really run. Not just average. He can run. He had a 55-yard run. I thought he handed the ball off on one tape. I had to rewind it, and it was Smith. He’s going to test out of this world. Right now, he’s 6-3½, but he has to grow into the body. He has the build to be 225 or more. And that’s fine.â€Â
One general manager who has seen each junior play said Rogers could be the first pick in the draft. Size  he might measure under 6-foot-2  could be a liability to evaluators.
“If you rate them as athletes, it goes Smith, Rogers and Leinart,†he said. “Mentally, rate them Leinart, Rogers and Smith. That’s kind of a readiness-to-play scale too. We don’t doubt (Smith) will be the best 3-4 years down the road.
“Rogers has the best arm of the three. I’d say Smith is two, Leinart is three. I’m not knocking Leinart for that. He likes to step into it; he’s good enough for the league. But he throws a touch pass too much, likes to drop in on the target. That makes you believe he might not have the strength, but he does.â€Â
One scout who said he has seen Leinart play more than 10 times believes Leinart’s long, exaggerated release will keep him out of the first half of the first round.
“It doesn’t get out fast enough, not foa West Coast offense,†he said. “The three-step-and-out is a problem. Can you fix that? I think so, but he’s had it forever.â€Â

We need a veteran backup...which Frerotte is and McMahon isn't.
AJ is the undisputed starter, we dont need to create a controversy by having two young(ish) guys with unfulfilled potential.
We then draft a young QB - McPherson, Campbell, Orton, Greene - to groom for the time being.
Buddwalk said:everybody can run the system efficiently in minnesota with them recievers this is miami...we dont have randy moss to throw it too ok!
believe me mcmahon is the better choice
NJFINSFAN1 said:So when AJ starts saying he can't figure out the system and throws int's like last year, what will the excuse be???
nydolphinfan said:How about Kelly Holcomb as a backup?
dolfan005 said:im with the original thread id rather have mcmahon, but frerotte is being brought here to teach our young QBs the new system and nothing more!
Buddwalk said:Every QB Looks good in minnesota with them WR's
Randall Cunningham [was a running qb til he came here]
Jeff George [retired always sucked til he came here]
Daunte Culpepper [starter for the vikings]
Todd Bouman [3rd string qb for the saints now]
Gus Frerotte [sucked as a starter in cincy]
Also Gus is over 30 so he wouldnt be an ideal starter only a backup at best and not even that good witht he recievers here...dont get me wrong our recievers are good but there non of them carry the last name Moss!
I think Mike Mcmahon would be the better choice if we were to pick up backup qb...cause hes only like 25 and he could still develop into a great qb and hes as fast as aaron brooks running the ball
thedayafter said:IMO....Saban is not just going to hand the keys to Feeley and say it's all yours.... no matter what is said in the papers.....Ferotte will create some urgency.... no free rides on a Saban team.... and if Feeley falters at least the rest of the offensive development won't suffer, Ferotte will step in and run the system.
