Picking up Gus Frerotte is a mistake. Just because he knows the Linehan ofense, doesn't mean he'll have success. Why wouldn't we just draft Smith or Rogers, and trade Surtain for a RB ? A QB is harder to come by, and with our O-Line shifting around and being lego-ed together, I see a pass blocking line that isn't quick enough to push the run. We have so many weapons , and we are focusing on a RB ? Without a leader at QB, you could have Barry Sanders back there, it wouldn't matter. The AFC is all about airing it out now. We have to hang our balls out there and get a QB that is an investment, not a band-aid. Feeley : overrated. half a season, and a dismal season. Let's stop fooling ourselves and draft a leader. Champoinships are based on leadership. We have our leader at Head Coach, let's get one ON the field too.

How do you know they won't draft a QB? I don't see how it's a bad idea to bring in a vet who is familiar with the system you're going to install.

If he wins the job over Feeley, then Feeley didn't deserve it.

What if Feeley wins and gets hurt, then What?

It was a good pickup, and if Feeley loses the job, he has no one to blame but himself! :shakeno:

All I wanted in the QB department was a average vet backup. We got a bonus because he knows the system=less time to learn it.

I also want McPherson in the 3rd.

If we are going to employ a new system with linehan, why not start with a new qb, then build the offense around him. i.e. Peyton Manning

That's fine, but you need someone that knows the system (AKA Gus). I beleieve the coaches are far from sold on Feeley, so it was a good move. And I think we take a QB in this draft, don't know if it's 1st, (2nd if Surtain goes) or 3rd or 4th.

Picking up Gus Frerotte is a mistake.

You don't even know that he will still be on the roster when the season starts. Saban could be planning to choose a QB in the draft, but if he doesn't want everyone and their dog to know that then he has to make moves like this prior to draft day.

The AFC is all about airing it out now.

If the AFC were "all about airing it out", that would be a reason *not* to be an "air it out" team. Everyone would be concentrating on pass defense rather than run defense. What the AFC tends to do offensively matters to our defense; it is irrelevant to our offense.

Linnehan has his system. We don't need a new qb. IMO, Feeley will be given every opportunity to win the job. If he does not then like above, he doesn't deserve it. That being said, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Miami drafts a qb in the early rounds. Having a veteran is important. Look what happened when Culpepper went down, Frerrotte came in and their offense didn't miss a beat.

How does Frerotte benefit us if we draft a QB that won't develop until Gus is gone ?

Even if we draft a QB, you don`t just learn an offense as complicated as the one Linehan employs overnight. Gus is familiar with the offense....not saying he`s the savior, but I think he was a good pickup, and I won`t be surprised to see him as the starter on opening day.

I hope we dont draft a qb at #2.
I don't care about any other picks just not w/ our 1st rder.
Ronnie, benson, Edwards
