"I feel like I played well," Frerotte said in a telephone interview. "I was playing injured [with a sprained right index finger] and feel like I deserve some credit. But then again, being a quarterback can be a thankless job sometimes.

Saban thinks he did well too.
"Gus did a nice job for us this year. Hopefully, he'll be able to continue to do that. But I think long term, we certainly need to get somebody that can be a potential starter for us down the road and add depth and quality at that position short term.

Do you think he will start the season and if not who do you think will ?

to some degree i think he is right, the "new guy" who comes in, will have to learn the playbook and stuff, since saban said yesterday, that the offense won´t get a makeover, gus is still the man who has the advantage

Frerotte play well at times. During other times, he was average and occasionally below average. I remember that throw he made against the Chargers to Booker. It was a critical play where he scrambled away from the rush and kept the drive alive with a 40+ yard gain.

I don't see how Frerotte won't come back in 2006. He will definitely have to compete again for the starting job though. He will have to compete for the starting job every season now. That is where he is in his career.

I think Saban is just saying that Miami needs to have a guy with a little more youth at QB that will be around for more than a few years. Frerotte doesn't have more than a few years left. Maybe only two years left.

But I'm starting to think that Saban doesn't want to bring in a rookie as a backup to Frerotte. For some reason, I think he has his eye on the free agent market.

For some reason, people believe Cold Pizza before they believe anything Saban has to say on the situation.

Frerotte played well in my eyes....God, I wish some people would give him a little credit.

Gus had a few good moments. He was mediocre to poor the rest of the season. His inaccuracy was his Achilles heel and killed several games for us. He is what he is...a career backup....this season was the best we can expect from him, meaning that he'll be even worse next year if our starter. He has taken the team as far as he can. Without a change at QB, we can't get any better.

Those of you who want to give him more credit than he's due are affected by aqua-colored 'At least he didn't throw any pick 6's' glasses... Don't be fooled by better coaching, schemes and talent in other areas of the team. Marino said it best: Gus couldn't hit the waves on the beach if he had to.

Very very inconsistent. He was missing open WRs left and right. One game he would overthrow everyone. So he would try to adjust the next game and he would underthrow the people. It became very annoying specially in the begining of the year

He lost us at least 2 or 3 games. Not in obvious ways (a la Feeley) but in less obvious ways, like not sustaining drives, poor competion %, ect.

6-0 the last 6 games with help from Sage is all I gotta say.

Sage won us the Bills game. Frerotte gets credit for the other 5 IMO.

u also have to realize how many dropped balls chambers, mcmike, n booker had. if they would catch the ones they had in their hands...we wouldn't be talking about this.

Gus was a decent manager, nothing spectacular, and not horrible. We can do better. :dolphins:

if he was bad, saban would have gave up on him, so obviously saban believes and so do i
