Here is a great quote from Dave Joseph of the Sun-Sentinel, comparing Frerotte's performance tonight to Jay Fielder in missing on the big plays:

"In fact, Frerotte's performance dredged up memories of Jay Fiedler. Just like Fiedler, Frerotte was inconsistent and you walked away thinking about all the big plays and opportunities he left on the table."

I see a disturbing trend here. I hope it gets corrected soon. :(

My belief is that the majority of the Gus supporters were Fiedler supporters last year and resent the fact that AJ stayed and Fiedler left. This is simply a hypothesis and certainly doesnt apply to all the aj detractors, many o0f whom made valid points regarding either Gus OR AJ. I just think that after tonight we will see a clear delineation between the fervent haters and those who simply believed that Gus would be better. Its pretty clear that excluding any factors outside of the preseason games AJ has outplayed Gus

That was the most frustrating part of the game for me as well. A couple of big overthrows, but not too mention a couple of big drops too. I was a little upset by that drop near the endzone of a Feeley pass. (Can't remember who dropped it, thought it was Thompson and screamed).

Nah, I dont think so. There was only a handfull of Fiedler supporters (little handfull at that...like midget hands:)) There are way too many Gus supporters for the majority of them to have come from Fiedler's camp.

As for who has outplayed who....I think you may have struck on something there. You said "excluding any factors outside of the preseason games"..... It was mentioned last year that AJ doesnt do as well in practices as he does in games. If this is indeed true, then Gus has probably outplayed AJ in camp and was made the starter as a result.

Just a thought.

On a side note...

Dave Joseph needs to cut that mullet...

I agree partially with that sentiment. My take on Feeley is that he's not much of a hang out with the boys type of qb. I think the players just generally like Gus more. I think part of the reason for this is that I think AJ has developed a bit of a fatalistic attitude when it comes to starting. He went from Wannstedt preferring Fiedler to Saban preferring Gus and I think he kinda went into a shell - not on the field but in the locker room. I think Saban wanted a guy that connected with the team but I believe the thing that players rally around is not who's a better guy to hang with but who gives you a better chance to win. I think Gus really put some doubt into Saban's mind tonight and AJ has done all that was asked of him. We'll see how saban reacts

I think youre thinking of the sure td pass by Frerotte that was dropped by Chambers. Frerotte delivered the pass perfectly over double coverage and Chambers messed up.

No, not that one. Feeley threw one much shorter, fairly close to the goal line, and whoever the reciever was couldn't quite pull it in. The pass was high, but I think it had to be. I think it was Farmer.

Oh yeah okay. I remember that one too.

Funny thing is, on both of them, I did the same thing that was mentioned earlier and jumped up and yelled "Derius Thompson you SUCK!!!!!", even though neither was him. It was just a built in reflex.

Maybe if we are lucky they will cut him...

Did he take a pay cut this year? If he did then scratch the above...

I've been saying this for months and I always get lambasted for being a "hater"...
