Frerotte to start vs Chargers

Gus Frerotte is expected to practice and play this week after suffering a concussion Sunday against Buffalo.

"He's fine today," coach Nick Saban said of the Dolphins' starting quarterback.

Frerotte was hurt when he was sacked for a safety, leaving with Miami trailing 23-3 in the third quarter. Sage Rosenfels replaced him and rallied Miami to a 24-23 victory.

Saban said Frerotte remains the No. 1 quarterback. "We're not making any changes at that position right now," the coach said. "This should not be an issue. We don't want it to be an issue. I know y'all are going to try to make it an issue."

I agree. Sage should really start Vs. SD as he basically won us the game. I really dont think we would of came back with Gus.

god damn it saban.

doesn't he realize that gus was sucking against the bills and that sage won the game.

saban:gus::wannstedt:jay. this analogy is so true.

saban should know that if gus stayed in the bills game, no way the fins would have won the game cause gus was 12-28 and 115 yards at that point he was knocked out.

  • Sage shouldn't start in SD for "winning" Sunday.... he is paid to back-up and be ready... he was... good for the team.
  • Everybody already forget Cleveland...?

so you probably were pissed when gus was knocked out yesterday.

i was jumping up and down in the airport.

IMHO, I think Sage should get the start not because he earned it, but because Ferotte suffered a concusion and should at least sit out this game. A head injury is nothing to play with. If he gets rattled again like that could be alot worse.

Actually I think this is for the best. Sage certainly appears to be more effective than Gus in the two minute offense, but when it comes to operating the steady possession offense that constitutes the other 80% of the game, Gus Frerotte tends to be better.

People that see what Sage did in the two minute drill against the Bills should keep in mind that had Sage been starting and operating the regular offense during the time Gus did, in all likelihood he probably would have had similar performance.

We have an excellent two minute offense...the personnel is built for it, the coaching staff is built for it, it is an ideal two minute offense and it has proven effective ALL YEAR long...the only thing that has been able to stop our two minute offense is us shooting ourselves in the foot.

Personally I don't agree with the decision, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say Saban knows more than I do.

I will join you on that limb. ;) I wish sage would play too though.

people werent yelling for gus to "stay down" at the stadium because he was playing good. he did nothing all day and sage did just the opposite. give it to sage

Well, on a good note, you're always more than welcome to root for another team. There are 31 different ones for whom you may choose from.
