### Say this for linebacker Phillip Wheeler, who was justifiably a target of derision for Dolphins fans last season: He’s much better so far this year.
In 2013, he was rated the 35[SUP]th[/SUP] and worst 4-3 outside linebacker according to Pro Football Focus, was delinquent against the run, missed 18 tackles and had a 108.7 passer rating in his coverage area. This season, he’s rated third (behind only teammate Jelani Jenkins and Denver’s Von Miller), has a positive grade against the run, no missed tackles and a 68.7 opponent passer rating.
His longterm future here remains dubious, but the Dolphins believe he’s playing more disciplined and less recklessly.
### Joe Philbin is trying to curb any temptation to overdo it with his staff during the bye week. The coaches are back Sunday, the players Monday.
"Potentially, there might be one wrinkle or two that we can add," he said. "Maybe it’s a new formation. Maybe it was one new pressure on defense that fits within our scheme overall. When you have too much time, I’m prone to doing too much."
### Publicly, several Dolphins players resisted the temptation to say winning the AFC East is more realistic amid the Patriot's struggles. "Im not buying one thing about them being vulnerable," Cortland Finnegan said.
### UM’s linebackers --– who face a huge test at Georgia Tech --- also have exceeded modest expectations, beyond top defender Denzel Perryman. Thurston Armbrister’s combined sacks (four) and forced fumbles (two) are fourth nationally; Raphael Kirby comes off the best game of his career, and coaches love the improvement of Jermaine Grace and long, physical freshman Darrion Owens.

Pretty happy with the Finnegan Grimes combo.
Can't wait to see what Delmas and Jones do. Delmas has been somewhat underwhelming so far, but we will see once he has a decent starter playing next to him

Patriots normally come out with a big win when people start to doubt. After we beat them they stomped the Vikings 30-7, Vikings were without Peterson and there were probably some distraction with that whole deal but Patriots did what they normally do. I expect them to come out this week and beat the Bengals...if they don't then I think we can officially call the AFC East up for grabs.

Yea the outcome of the bengals patriots game will be huge for us! Not worried about the bills and jets and this point(expecting them to lose this week)

You are not gonna be happy with that combo against Chicago, but fortunately we only play Chicago once every 4 years.

"When you have too much time, I’m prone to doing too much."

Coach speak or not. Hate him or like him.

I've stated time and time again that Philbin needs to have a Tom Coughlin moment to save his job and get us over the hump and moving forward.

I can't say he's doing everything right. And he still has his bone head moments, but it does seem Philbin is trying to change some tendencies.

Will it be enough? Time will tell. But at least he is not doubling down on stupidity and stubbornness right now. I think he's trying to correct himself. But it just needs to be less transparent on game day and during the week. Le's hope he stays out of his way.

We have seen it happen so many times, but this time I am thinking differently . If they don't attempt to establish a ground game I don't see them beating good teams this year. There not protecting Brady like in the past and have nobody to stretch the field which isin't Brady's strength anyway. Bengals haven't given up a sack this year and that defense can be nasty.

We're going to be 7 point underdogs at least at home against the Packers. There's a good chance we'll be 2-3 or even 2-4 after heading to Chicago the following week. If we can take 1 out of those 2 games I think we'd all be happy..

I think Cincinnati goes into Foxboro and handles NE. Cincinnati is better in every direction. I can't see NE putting up enough resistance to the 1-2 punch of Bernard and Hill plus the Bengals will sprinkle enough pass even if Revis can cover AJ Green which is no sure bet. As regards NE's offense, the Bengals D is one of the better D's you will see and will have a significant advantage.

By the way, Duke Tobin is a star personnel guy for Cincinnati. They already have Gresham and he grabs Eifert. They have Bernard and he gets Hill. He has AJ Green. He understands the playmaker concept and he hits. I'd like to see that vision and those types of moves in Miami.

I was on here last year wishing the Dolphins would have tried to grab this guy as our next GM. All you have to do is looks at Cincinnati's roster to understand this guy doesn't just "get it", he knows how to pick the talent.

Can't see how we aren't worried about Buffalo. We haven't beat them since 2012. If Orton is consistently average they may be the team to beat.

I for one was hoping Wheeler would continue to screw up so we could get Jordan Tripp or Chris McCain to take over his spot. But it seems the tackling drill the Dolphins had before the Cowboys pre-season game may have helped him a lot. It was also good for Jenkins who has also tackled very well since.

Looks like we opened up as 3 point dogs.
