### On his weekly WQAM segment today, agent Drew Rosenhaus said "at least half a dozen" teams have inquired about free agent guard Evan Mathis since the Eagles released him Thursday but he doesn't necessarily expect a quick resolution.
Rosenhaus declined to name teams who are interested and wouldn't say if the Dolphins have called.
"Until a player visits with a team, clubs like to keep their interest on the down low," he said.
"It's wide open and there's a lot of interest in Evan," Rosenhaus added. "Between now and the start of training camp, I definitely expect him to have a new home. I think we'll be methodical. We won't necessarily rush into signing immediately....
"As far as ranking Evan's priorities, I definitely think winning is critical to him.... The contract has been an issue, so that's a factor. Fortunately, he's going to have some options."
Miami's chances of landing Mathis would hinge in large part on how high the price goes in bidding.
Keep in mind that the Dolphins ideally would prefer to carry over some of their $10 million cap space into 2016 because they're already over the projected 2016 cap. They also want to keep a few million available to protect themselves in case of injury before and during the season.
Pro Football Focus rated Mathis, 33, as the NFL's second-best guard last season.

More with Mike Tannenbaum so please click the link.

Love Tannenbaum. Agree on his philo and vision for an NFL team.

In time, this team is going to win.

Yea its been said. We wanna go young and give those guys a chance. At the same time we want to keep our money. I want Mathis but i do doubt we get him unless the price is right

I don't see Mathis being a dolphin .the price tag may just be to high

So the Eagles dropped this guy Mathis who played for Miami and stunk years ago and replaced him with Allen Babre who couldn't secure a roster spot with Miami either?

Scratches head.

A little off topic but in the article, Tannenbaum genuinely seems to respect and like Coach Philbin. We know how you feel about our Coach (I tend to agree with you, perhaps not as strongly).

We need help on the O-line... if signing Mathis means Dallas Thomas ultimately goes to the bench I am all for it.

It's all coach speak. Tannenbaum has been given a second chance at football by Ross. If Phailbin fails he's a goner. Tannenbaum cans him as to not put pressure on himself with a loser coach

Agreed. Mathis wants something like 8-10 per year on a multi year deal. We don't have the cap nor is he worth that given his age

I liked this quote:

Asked what he considers important in a coach, the first thing Tannenbaum mentioned was “the emotional IQ of knowing what pitch to throw what day. What is the appropriate way to behave depending on the situation.” He mentioned how Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who Tannenbaum represented during his time as an agent, cited that as a strength of Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.

Kind of that "it" factor thing. There is no debate that up until this point, Philbin has lacked in this category. Hopefully he can turn it around - not expecting him too, but hoping...

he may have got suh, but the idea of Tannenbaum picking a coach and running this deal still ****ing terrifies me

I believe Mathis fits the Ross "win now" philosophy and for that reasonI believe we will sign him eventually. I wouldn't sign him for more than 2-3 years, but he definitely fills a big hole. Still think we need another vet CB.
