I just spoke with a former player who was at the game on Sunday and was able to pick his brain a little bit.

He said the following about the game...

-as we all knew that the New England WR's were wide open the whole game, and not just by nfl standards, but it looked like they were just running free out there. Said it wasn't going to get any better and any qb in the NFL would have carved us up in the same situation. Bill scaled it back with his 3rd qb in the game, but he really didn't need to.

-Maxwell looked like he wasn't even trying

-Miami's WR's by contrast were having a hard time getting open in the first half. Said there were times where the protection was good, but nowhere to go with the ball. He couldn't remember seeing that once by NE.

-There wasn't much to be had for Tannehill in the first half, but that in late in the 2nd quarter was inexusable. Just an awful throw that you can't make and u can tell that he was playing desperate. Other than that he said it was one of the best games he's ever seen Tannehill play. Said the 2nd half wasn't garbage time, and Ryan made some bigtime throw.

-on last throw of the game he said parker has to do a better job of tracking that ball and at least make an attempt at it. He said the ball could have been thrown a yard or two shorter, but on a throw like that and where it landed it is 100% on the wr to at least make a play at it. He also said parker looked gassed in the 2nd half which could have led to the poor attempt at the catch.

-Defense is bad, DL is a strong point, lbs are right around average, CBS are just plain bad, and safeties are good at some thing but aren't ball hawking playmakers.(this one surprised me a little, but idk...)

-Run game is atrocious and with the defense we have we are going to be in a lot of shootouts which we are capable of winning, but it's no formula for success

No question the Dolphins defense needs a complete overhaul. I think Gase is going to be a good Head coach just wish he had a better GM to work with. Team is going to need 3 solid drafts before they become a legit playoff contender.

Still no excuse for losing to a team QBed for most of the game by Jacoby Brissett.

Parkers conditioning is something that needs some help..
Lets not act like the whole team was ready tho, jones gets ran over at the goal line by amandola i knew it was gonna be a long day

Or as I like to call it, "Country Mile Open."

Well, I don't know who that "former player" is but I saw the game about the same way but of course we have some people who watched a different game...you know, they saw our QB leads us to "only" 24 points and he was also responsible for the 31 NE scored and he was responsible for our two fumbles as well. Not to mention he was to blame for the bad snap and the the fact we had no running game(other than himself of course)

Ozzy rules!!

The "Lazer-ing" of Joseph has begun.

Before the season, he was the second coming, now . . .

Post of the day.

What we are seeing, also. Good to have someone's perspective that knows about the game -- far more than just one phase or ego-involved myopia.

All 9 passes?

For far too long now, this has been happening: Miami WRs and TEs STRUGGLING to get open against even poorer Ds and the opposing team's receivers "running free" in the secondary.

Other teams have a primary or secondary receiver open by five yards or more within 2 seconds of the snap. How is this possible? It's almost insane -- and yet it's what caused Tyrod and other low-quality QBs to be propped by by super stats every time they faced Miami. It's almost funny. Tyrod (using him for an example) -- the next time he plays the position as a real QB, reading D, progressing, and making tight window throws, etc. will be his first time. Yet, Miami makes these lesser QBs look like all pros. How? It's mind blowing that every game Miami plays it seems as if Miami's WRs are LOCKED DOWN while opposing WRs are RUNNING FREE (as this former player said -- not open just by NFL standards, but simply RUNNING FREE).

The point of the matter is this: Miami has very few, if any WRS (Parker when healthy, possibly, but he hasn't always shown it) who have the talent and skill to immediately win open, via mismatch of skill. They have a roster full of WRs that are possession who need to be schemed open. Meanwhile, they have a roster full of CBs that are so pedestrian that they lose big time on individual matchups.

It all comes down to talent. Miami's talent gets puffed up in training camp against lesser talent -- on both sides of ball -- possession WRs going against low-ceiling CBs. Then they begin to face real talent in the division, and the wheels fall off.

It's about talent. Which means front office failure.

I know this is blasphemous, but I don't see the pre-2016 Landry anymore. Yes, his play is intense and, yes, he plays with passion, but his fundamentals look worse.

Could be alone but I like our safeties (talking outside of Jones obv) CBs are killing this team. Most of knew we wouldn't be able to cover a soul though so many on here were relying on Howard to save us. Good one......
