Here is what I took away from the loss against the Patriots.

1.) The ESPN announcers were tearing the dolphins a new one all game. Sometimes rightfully so, but at the same time you are playing one of the best teams EVER. They played one of the best teams in the NFL and lost by 14. It wasn't always pretty, and they have plenty of work to do, but some things seemed uncalled for.

2.) Chad Henne played a good game. That being said, there were some throws where he had WRs open, but he didn't deliver the pass. If he can work on his timing with Brandon Marshall and others, he might have also had 500 yards passing. I'm not blaming this loss on Chad, but had he made some of those throws, we might have gotten a lot closer to an upset.

3.) Benny Sapp just sucks. Like, really sucks.

4.) Cameron Wake got eatten alive by a rookie. Our whole defensive line never got pressure on Brady. That's the only way to slow the Pats down, is with pressure on Brady (see the Super Bowl vs the Giants). Until we get this fixed, we will be at the bottom of the division like we are now.

5.) Fasano has some great hands this year. Hopefully he keeps it up.

6.) Our leading rusher after week 1 is CHAD HENNE. Those draw plays were just not working. Especially if you call them twice in a row! This has got to stop. If you want to AIR it out vs Tom Brady, that's fine. But you have to run the ball too and eat up some clock and keep Brady on the sideline. Give the defense a breather for God sakes.

7.) Our WRs look much better than in years past. Marshall, Hartline, Bess and Fasano were all money all night long. Everyone had some catches that could have easily been drops. Which also made Henne's numbers look much better than what they could have been.

8.) i like the darker jerseys that the dolphins wore.

9.) The interior line has to block better. Haynesworth had pressure all night even while being double teamed. You have to block better in the middle, for the run and pass. for some reason we haven't been able to run block now for the last two years.

Just some of the random thoughts that I had during the game. What do you guys think?

Need better red zone play calling & more involvement of other players on the roster. No reason Lex, LJ or Wallace-Moore didn't get some action

Where was Soliai at? Seemed like he wasn't getting much push, even after the backup center came in! I think our defense will get it together though.

Doesnt matter who is at corner we blitzed alot and alot of times came up with no pressure, why a mike nolan coached defense played so poorly i have no clue only had like 2 good defensive plays a sack by wake and the int by odrick which btw was made possible by benny sapp jumping the screen sapp is a solid corner but with so much time allowed for the QB any wideout will get open

It got to a point where I wanted to give up on an edge rush and simply push guys inside to try and jump into the passing lanes. The best defense against those short, quick routes is to tip them at the line.

We need to somewhat commit to an inside run game. it was tough last night with the pats scoring like they did, but we need to have a decent inside rush attack to set up play action. Chad needs that threat.
