From Keion Crossens IG, Offense looks totally different

Offense looks totally different after 1 play? Just because a WR motions to the right? Last year Waddle did a lot of motion as well. If you tell me Tua has more time in the pocket, I will definitely agree.... But Come on!!!! Offense looks totally different from a regular empty backfield/Shotgun formation with 4 WR?

The guy running the 5yard out is completely open, probably could have got the same yardage as the intended pass.
In a real game Tua might have hit the short pass route. Yet this is practice and the coaches might have wanted Tua to throw the pass where it went. They might as well see what the rookie can do and him dropping a pass right in his hands was not a good look.

Notice the time in the pocket.
They are all in shorts and the defense is playing very vanilla. All the offensive linemen have to do is block the man in front of him and Tua doesn’t have to worry about being hit in practice.

I expect the OL to be better next season but it’s hard to get excited right now when the guys are still running around in shorts.

Yeah you never know from these.

The routes and the formation caused the two defenders to run into each other leaving 2 receivers open. Last season there would have been 3 routes finishing on top of each other and the receivers would have run into each other. So yeah, it looks totally different. Tua is going to be running plays that are well designed this season.

That’s what stood out to me when Peyton did his Mac Jones breakdown. He had very well designed plays that allowed him to shrink the field. If Tua can have that, with his talent, we are talking a lot of WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWs.

He was covered. The defender ran into the other defender. But he was still over the top. It was the right read. He could have checked it down. But he made the right decision.

Did he though? The formation and play design caused the defenders to get caught up, leaving Waddle or Hill open with one guy to beat that is already a few steps behind at least. Instead, he chooses to throw inbetween the DB and FS, who if they didn't trip and was a real game, would have blasted the WR.
