front office failure squarely on parcells not ireland

Just clean house. Simple. They need to move on from this regime.

EVERY SINGLE item listed took place while parcells was CALLING THE SHOTS in miami and assigns the blame to ireland.
I've seen people blame Ireland for Saban and Cameron picks. It's an internet forum and we're all experts.

I have no sympathy for anyone in this regime. Who cares who made the picks and who didn't. Everything starts with the damn owner to the tail of the fish which is Sparano. Ross made some very poor decisions in hiring someone like Parcells. Parcells then brought those clowns from Dallas with him that ended up in this colossal failure. You know how sad it is that no player wants to sign with Miami? We are talking about lowly free agents here aren't we? Even if we win the rest of the games we still would be a pretty bad team that could barely make a wild card game.

this is precisely what im talking about. ross didnt hire parcells - HUIZENGA DID. and where does it say players dont want to sign with miami? are u nuts? its SOUTH BEACH, and NO STATE INCOME TAX. miami will have absolutely no problem signing the players it wants in the future

Seems like we had to overpay anyone to come here in the past two years though. Players definately were not breaking their backs to get here this year much like corrdinators thats how we ended up with Daboll who no other team was oursuing for OC

perhaps there is some truth to this and perhaps not. if there is any truth, its simply because one would have to assume the head coach wasnt going to last another year. since we werent in the market for free agents anyways, it doesnt make much difference. this team wont have any problem bringing in the players it targets in the future once sparano is gone

yeah lets give ireland a free pass and make Parcells the scapegoat, cool.

am i missing something here? parcells IS the guy that was brought in to buy the groceries, pick the head coach, and structure the organization wasnt he?

Yes he brought in his guys, and Ireland was one of them. Pure speculation on how much leeway he gave Ireland with the draft. But if it's his guy I wouldn't be surprised if it was a lot.

no chance. parcells ego alone wouldnt have allowed ireland to call any shots. pat white was a parcells pick - that should tell u enough. ireland didnt have control of personal decisions in the draft until this year, and he did pretty well, by early returns with pouncey and thomas. u MUST hit on your 1st and 2nd rounders. grove, smiley, wilford all screamed parcells

Hard to say how much blame goes to Jeff Ireland. I honestly think he's done a pretty good job especially with non-drafted players like Bess and Carpenter. I don't think the Bill Parcells philosophy is that far off either, although you've got to balance big and tough with speed. That's especially true in today's NFL. It's become such a catch and pitch league and you need a good qb to pull the trigger and some talented wide receivers. On the other side of the ball you need people who can rush the passer and db's who can make plays on the ball. The Dolphins are lacking in almost all those areas with the possible exception of wide receiver. Even then you have to consider that Marshall isn't super dependable. I'd give Ireland a little more time and see how he can mesh with a new coach and possibly a whole new philosophy.

Well I have a feeling he'll be back next near so for the fins sake I hope your right.

i dont know how great a GM ireland is or is going to be. too early to say. he certainly has proven over time to have a better eye for players than other people that have had front office control here in the past (shula made some awful picks for years at the end of his career, wandstedt is up there among the worst talent guys in history, saban made quite a few poor choices). this might not be saying much.

The personnel decisions over the last two years have been horrendous and that is on Ireland. He also should have gotten control of Ross before they flew to Cali in pursuit of Harbaugh instead he went along for the ride. Lets not forget Dez Bryant either.

They organization needs a fresh start with someone who understands the NFL operation not another Head of College Scouting which was Ireland's job in Dallas.

that may be the case. it might not be. as far as dez bryant is concerned, its a non issue. the player decided to air the dirty laundry. its something taken completely out of context. the was an article i just posted that talks about how green bay was convinced aaron rodgers was their guy based on how he handled his drop in the draft with poise. if thats something green bay used to evaluate their guy, then i have ZERO problem with ireland asking bryant what he did - how is he going to get a rise out of him if he is looking at how he would handle something like that??

obviously there was a REASON he asked - and it WASNT to find out if his mom was a prostitute! he ALREADY KNEW THAT ANSWER. he wanted to see how bryant would react. clearly the guy has been a problem off the field for dallas and very immature. he has talent, but he hasnt been on the field enough. they got the information they needed to decide that bryants attitude would be disruptive. deion sanders even stopped mentoring the guy because he didnt want him around his kids. id say ireland wasnt out of line to ask - not when $20 million plus and potentially the future of the franchise rides on the decision

Right, well, I do have to give him credit for the Pouncey and Thomas picks. I'm hoping for the best. I just don't want to be stuck with a bad GM once we get everything else fixed. We need a nice stream of talent coming in for the next couple years to get back to being true contenders.

absolutely we do. i personally dont think gates is going to pan out but u never know. at the very least hes going to take some time - maybe a couple years. doesnt use his body at all, and at this point hes going to have to be wide open by NFL standards to make plays - thats asking a lot from him. clay flashed a little. pat white was a parcells pick (he admitted it in his special - then tried to dance around it), demarcus ware ireland had to fight with parcells to take (parcells wanted spears). john jerry was a sparano pick (he coached him at the senior bowl). so simply from a draft standpoint there seem to be some postives with ireland. if u can hit on your 1st and 2nd round picks every year, and mix in some other gems u will build a talented roster. im not happy we didnt find a way to pickup mallett, but it seems this draft may turn out ok for the dolphins.

need to find some playmakers!

Parcells' influence is only really evident in Year 1 which was heavy on linemen. From then on he increasingly took a back seat

Obviously his two key decisions were the selection of HC and GM and it's clear he went 0 for 2. He then struck out entirely by leaving without realizing he was 0 for 2 in the first place. Hence another 4 years wasted
