just finished watching some film on him... and I ended up a bit more worried on him. he is a development no doubt.

FS- Cedric Thompson: lacks awareness and play recognition, seems slow to decipher and takes poor angles into blocks and towards the ball. He does seem disciplined into his assignment, can cover, but leaves too much room he needs to make up when in coverage. He has good size and seems to have good strength. He has speed but doesnt use it well due to his poor angles and recognition i believe. He turns and moves pretty well, and seems to stick his nose in against the run and tackling. needs work fully wrapping up, and breaking down when tackling, but can stick it!!!

anybody else have any thoughts on him?

He was the one "quote on quote" reach that we made. I saw him more of a round 7 type guy. Had a good pro day which must of pushed him up in our eyes.

Yeah, that report makes him sound awful.

i didnt mean to make him sound awful

Another pick that I see as practice squad material. With Reshad Jones, Don Jones, Delmas and Thomas I'm not sold on him making the final 53. He has a shot, but I wouldn't call him sure bet to make the actual roster. In all honesty I can't see a position that Miami could have drafted at that point that I would have said they were a lock to make the team. Ajayi was the last lock drafted.

Free safety Cedric Thompson (5-11 1/2, 211) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.50 and 4.48 seconds. He had a 40 1/2-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-2 broad jump. He had a 4.28-second 20-yard short shuttle and 6.96-second three-cone drill. He performed 21 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Thompson had a good pro day workout, and looks like a possible late-round selection in the 2015 NFL Draft or priority free-agent pickup for an NFL team following the draft.

Truth of the matter, there are successes in busts and in all the rounds including college free agency. Even the experts can't pin it down. It's hard to say what's in a kid's head and how they're motivated, but a lot of guys that haven't fit the mold have made it to Canton. We all just have to wait and see.

YOU GOTTA BE KIDDING ME???!!! I just started to believe in this front office. Ugh

I'm just happy they seen free safety as a need.. I didn't hear anyone talking about the position. Like last year I am not happy we signed Delmas.. He plays half the year due to injuries..

Don Jones, Michael Thomas and now Thompson will hopefully be the future after this year.

The film I saw on him showed him to be not very physical and will be more of a FS; instead of a SS, base on that. He can sometime just plain "blow" plays. He is an ankle tackler, and will have a hard time with bigger backs. Overall, both he and McCain are the two from the draft that I am least impressed with.

Has great tools. Great with the ball in his hands after the turnover. It's hard to find Safeties who have the tools to play the pass and the physicality to be a Safety. Cedric Thompson has those tools. Because of that, I had him as a 2nd Round player. Very, very good COD for a guy that size, outstanding burst. He makes dumb mistakes, but so did Duke Williams (loved Duke). He'll be a great ST's player, and you can play him in some packages early on. He's typically very good in run support. But if he learns his responsibilities, he'll be a great player.

I also like that he has 10 1/4" hands. Thompson has a very high ceiling. When he knows what he's doing, he's an instinctive player, but he looks lost too often. These are exactly the type of picks you love in the 5th round. High floor because of ST's value, and a high ceiling because of his athletic tools. Loved this pick. Again, if you like SPARQ, he's rated as the 3rd best athlete at the Safety position in this draft. Of the top three players, though, he's the only one with a sub-7.0 3-Cone, and that COD is big in the open field. He doesn't always breakdown the way he should, but he has all the tools you need.

I am assuming you meant "successes and busts". too true. I bet the odds on hitting from 4 5th rounders is better than one 3rd rounder. how many UDFA's are gonna succeed and how many 3rd rounders are gonna fail? some pretend to know on May 2nd
