Full Week 12 PFF Grades: Offense/Defense & O-Line pressures

Shell with a 15 at pass blocking. Other thing that pops to me is that none of our OL guys were great at both passing and run blocking. TA and Hunt great at pass and so so at run. AJ and CW great at run, mediocre at pass. Even Shell was acceptable run blocking but the obvious disaster at pass blocking over there on the left.
 
The 82.6 vs 15.5 pass blocking grade comparison between Armstead and Shell tells much of the story. Little (70.3) was a clear upgrade, albeit on limited snaps. If Jackson is healthy he’s our guy; if not, Greg Little c’mon down, you’re the next contestant on the Price is Left.
 
I'm shocked to see Shell so low, and Jackson so high. I didn't get to watch the full game, but the part I watched Jackson looked worse than Shell in pass protection.

Yea. If no TA, we go Shell RT, AJ LT. If no TA or AJ, its Little at LT and Shell RT.

Not trying to be a jerk here, but Shell completely whiffed on a few inside moves leaving a free rusher right in Tua's face. He hardly laid a glove on his man. AJ wasn't great at pass blocking either but at least he got in the way and forced the guy to go wide.
 
Yup Shell looked catatonic at LT. Get him back to RT. Looks like AJ or Greg Little at LT. God help Tua. All in for getting Eric Fisher in here!!! We've got a good shot to get to the playoffs and be a force but we need a capable Oline. Get it done Grier!

That's why I mentioned I didn't get to see the whole game. The part I watched involved the rusher just running directly around AJ untouched several times. Hopefully I'll get to catch the replay later this week.
 
For the SF game, if Miami ran a lot of 23 personnel, wouldn’t that create more Cover 1 WR 1:1s opportunities since D would need load the box to stop the run? If they stay in Cover 2 to neutralize Hill & Waddle, and Miami’s in a Power set, the running lanes should be open.
