Hey guys. Questions from last game since when is a fumble not reviewable I swear I can remember reviews on fumbles. or am i nuts

I could be wrong but I think it was an error by the announcers. I think it was a muff and not a fumble. It may be that a muff is not reviewable. You are correct many fumbles have been reviewed.

Sounded like they were trying to say that using replays to decide who recovers the ball is not reviewable. Whether a runner is down and the ball was fumbled before he went down is reviewable. I don't think there was a question as to whether it was a fumble or not.

How did the refs screw that call up in the first place? It's pretty obvious when a guy gets up from the pile with the football his team gets possession.

ok thought NFL changed the rule you know how everytime they go to take a dump they think of somthing to change.

it wasn't that the fumble wasn't reviewable. we were asking to review who recovered the fumble. and that is not reviewable. there is really no way to see what happen on the bottom of that pile. even though i think the phins did recover that fumble.

thats why they are calling preseason games and not games that count.. I have never seen that reffing crew before

I looked at the play a couple times. This is what I believe happened/ruled ....

Ball Fumbled.
Miami player recovers (no doubt about this, but now it gets fuzzy).
But Miami player not touched/down (probably no whistle as that would be key).
Miami player gets up.
Carolina player snatches/recovers the ball from Miami player & is tackled/down.
Carolina ball.

The rule must have changed because who recovered it used to be reviewable. If it was obvious who recovered the fumble it could be overturned

It depends. If a supposed fumble happens and the Pats recover it's not reviewable. Of course, if the Pats don't recover the "fumble" it will be reviewed.

It wasn't much of a pile and the replay clearly showed the ball was recovered by the dophins, what happen was the return man grap the ball while it was in courtney's hand, and since the ref didn't see the initial recovery, they saw the two men with the ball, and a tie goes to the O...which is what happened in this situation, except the initial recovery was by the d..but the ref didn't see it. courtney first had the ball under him, then rolled over, that's when the returner grapped the ball for the tie, by the time the ref saw it..if courtney would have just stayed on the bal, then there would have been no question..but he thought it was obvious he had it, turned over and the have the returning team another chance to make a play and they did.

Yeah it was a clear recovery for Miami. I was furious to see that not reviewed but you can not review who recovers it first unless it is a fumble out of bounds

mos def they need to change that rule it is a dumb rule, just like the one of the kickoff return wedge, what's next, one down, hail mary from the 50.

The real problem is that the replay showed a Dolphin clearly recover that football and be down before the pile really ever ensued. Just because a pile occurred doesn't mean the play should have been unreviewable.

If this were a regular season game, there would be a lot of uproar.
