Ever since Marino retired, there has been a "battle" of sorts between the supporters and detractors of the current starting QB of the Dolphins. And now, after acquiring a former 3 time Pro Bowler and near MVP, this trend will still continue..

Hopefully the battles arent quite as bitter as the Fiedler/Feeley/Frerotte battles...

Well, since the Dolphins finished the season, the QB position needed to be upgraded and for last couple of weeks Drew Brees was the talk of QB Miami Dolphins. Alot of fans fell in love with Drew Brees. But Know The Dolphins have added a starting QB other than Drew Brees.

Espn said we released Gus yesterday so I don't think their is much of a competition right now.

Welcome to the world of Miami sports fans Skape.

These are the same people who called in to all the sports shows complaining on how the Heat "gave up too much!" to get Shaq.

These are the same people who b**** & complain when the Marlins are forced to dismantle their team and look for another state to play in...yet they don't show up for games and the stadium is mostly empty.(except when they're in the playoffs, then the stadium is miraculously full and everybody is a Marlin fan)

It's just the nature of sports fans down here. Miami fans love to whine and complain about something (we're all guilty of it at times). I went on to other message boards and they can't understand the negativity about the trade. One guy, who lives in New York and is a Mets fan, mentioned that he thought NY fans were whiny...until he listened to 790 The Ticket yesterday...that tells you something

I always liked both QB's. I was hoping for Brees at first, and he was certainly the QB that the fans hyped up the most, but after sitting and watching this thing unfold, I realized Culpepper was the obvious choice....

Brees kind of toyed with us. I know that's the idea when you're negociating, but that, along with the fact that he held his demands so high, turned me off. I still respect Brees, and I think he's a great QB, but something just wasn't right about him. I can't quite figure it out....

As for Culpepper, this guys was all over Saban / Mueller once he was able to talk trade. He was calling them daily{showing strong interest}, and in showing that kind of excitement in joining Miami, I think Saban / Mueller were impressed with his character. Not to mention the guy is a monster QB, who puts up insane numbers when healthy....

Personally, I'm a very happy Phinz fan today. Saban made the right decision, and all of the experts are agreeing. I just laugh at the fans who hate this trade....

PHINZ RULE!!!

I Trust Nick On This Move

i second that.......i have faith in any decision he makes, plus, its not like we had any other options, i dont think morgaging our future on drew brees would be wise, and we got a 3 time pro bowler for a 2nd round pick, even if it doesnt work out, its worth a shot.

I don't know how many people I'm speaking for here, but I am just not a Daunte fan. I still support the decision (I feel Nick did the right thing), but am just dissapointed in the fact that Daunte was the best option at this time. After waiting so long for a suitable replacement for Dan, it's dissapointing to me that the 'long term' solution is a player whom I don't like personally. Selfish? Yup. Do I think a 3-time Pro-Bowler is going to do fantastic here? Absolutely. I just have never been 'high' on Daunte as a person, so it's really depressing he's the 'solution' we've all been waiting for. I'll still be behind the DOLPHINS 100% and look forward to what I'm sure will be raging success, but I just don't like our team 'leader'. Guess that's to be expected when you're used to having a great one like Dan around....

Culpepper is better than any other Qb that we have had since Marino retired, I'm happy with this move

as a person???? what does that mean, daunte does more charitable work in the orlando area then any other celeb, you watch too much espn,

There is not one quarterback I would rather have. I mean that, when healthy he is a top five quarterback; and he is set to thrive in our offense. He can launch the ball 60 yards on a rope to the corner of the endzone. He is hard to bring down in the back field and the players are excited about him being here

And how exactly do you "know" him as a person? OR are you saying your perception of him through the media?:shakeno: You can not judge someone as a "person" unless you've personally meet them...
