Two lineman waived

Anderson now has two less offensive linemen to compete against for a roster spot, as the Dolphins waived centers Dominic Furio and Chris McNeil. Furio, a 2004 seventh-round draft choice by Philadelphia, joined the team in May after being claimed off waivers from the Eagles. McNeil, a rookie college free agent from Mississippi State, quit the team in May. Neither player was at last weekend's minicamp.

Bye bye boys! Don't let the door hit ya in the backside on your way out. Nice to know we're deep enough to be letting guys go already.

In Saban We Trust!

We now have 16 Olinemen, only 14 of which count against our 80 man roster. Two Orrin Thompson who was on NFLE/IR and Emmanuel Akah. Thompson is a tackle and Akah a guard.

We have 8 other interior linemen, James, Hadnot, Anderson, McKinney, Toledo, Smith, Berger, and Brooks. Outside the remaining 6 are Shelton, Carey, McIntosh, Pearson, Alabi, and Pape.

My view of the depth chart at this moment is

LT-Shelton-McIntosh-Alabi
LG-James-Brooks-Akah
C-Hadnot-McKinney-Smith
RG-Anderson-Toledo-Berger
RT-Carey-Pearson-Pape-Thompson

Alabi is being groomed as a swing tackle which may mean he will replace McIntosh and McKinney is being positioned as the back-up at the three inside spots and thus they could with the starters be the seven guys active of Sundays. That would leave Toledo inactive but safely stashed on the 53 man roster and then one or two more either on the 53 or the PS

I think it was a forgone conclusion that Furio would get the boot. He missed the mini camp for "personal reasons" and he never got to show his worth. Plus Saban seemed a little embarrassed when he didn't know that Furio wasn't in attendance until the reporters asked him about it.

That's the most right on (IMO) OL depth charts I've seen so far, Ohio.
The only change I'd make is Alabi behind Carey and Pearson behind DMac.

Alabi was reportedly working at RT next to Toledo on the 2nd team during the mini camp.

I think they are looking to see if Pearson can get healthy enough to back up Shelton. If so, that would free up DMac to compete on the right side for a starting spot.

I'm hoping that would be RG in particular because I'll continue to say DMac would make a better G than T... vice-versa for Carey.

I also think DMac would make a better RG than either Seth or Bennie. The result would be that you cut Bennie and keep Seth as the back up Center.

Don't know what to think of Wade Smith at this point. I read that he got injured (again) in the mini camp, though it was reportedly nothing major.

That's a pretty decent lineup. Heck, our backup line could've beat out the 04 starting lineup save for Brooks.

Joe Toledo by rule was tendered the rookie minimum when drafted and does not count against the roster until he signs a contract.

One of the linemen may or may not be cut when Toledo is signed because there are 79 regular roster spots now.

Aw man, and with my Dominic Furio jersey already in the mail!
