...That was the sentiment Tuesday from agent Marvin Demoff, who represents both.

"We've had discussions with Gus, but not much has been resolved," Demoff said. ....

...A source said the Dolphins are expected to show strong interest should Drew Brees not re-sign with San Diego.
The Dolphins don't appear to have nearly as strong an attraction to Minnesota quarterback Daunte Culpepper, who is reportedly being shopped.
Two sources said the Dolphins have character concerns about Culpepper...

nice cars

I'd rather Daunte than Drew, although Daunte's character is somewhat questionable.

"Because he had offseason surgery for a torn right labrum, the Chargers are reportedly offering Brees a contract that has a sizable amount of money tied to incentive clauses to protect the team in case he struggles in his recovery efforts.

That deal was unacceptable to Brees, who enjoyed a second consecutive standout season with the Chargers in 2005."

I really dislike the Fact that Brees is already rejecting the only type of deal I'd want to see him sign here in Miami.

And ya, you are quick, because I edited them out immediately, LOL

Brees deserves and will get a non-incentive laden contract without a shadow of a doubt.

The Chargers are lowballing him because they already have starter money tied up in Rivers and are trying to be greedy and keep both. I, for one, am glad to see it bite them in the rear. I've never held with the notion of ruining a player's career so you have the luxury of a star back-up.

No one is signing Brees without their own doctor's signing off... and in that case there is no reason one of the better quarterbacks in football should have to do an incentive based deal.

Brees and Dante both would come with some question marks cos they were both hurt but at least Bress wont cost a draft pick plus he's younger so I'd go with him.

Ozzy rules!!

Gus needs to know his role. he cant be in it for money at this pt.

I'm not pretending to know the whole situation with Brees contract demands, but it seems the man feels betrayed by SD. All he's done is develop into a franchise QB and all they've done is jerk him around with tags and empty promises of a long term contract. It doesn't surprise me at all that he is balking at less from them...they probably put a mechanism into the proposal that allows them to keep him dangling IF the injury doesn't heal the way he'd like. He certainly feels like he's given his all to SD and they aren't willing to pony up now...

I would suspect he'd be more willing to take an incentive based contract elsewhere if things don't work out there because new organization would be bringing him on to be "the Man", the franchise guy...

Torn Labrum is a very serious injury, there are no guarantees he will return to 100% strength in his arm, considering that his arm was less than a cannon to begin with, that is cause for concern and explains part of San Diego's attitude.

Funny that the Dolphins are concerned with character issues concerning Culpepper, since when has that been a priority for us? I`d take Daunte in a second if the price was right. My personal opinion, is we keep Gus as the backup, and sign Brees. Definite no on Josh McCown.

Keep Frerotte as a back up and get Brees! DUH!:dolphins:

That's fine, but I don't think they want to keep Frerotte for a near 5 million cap hit, and Frerotte may not want to take too much of a pay cut.
