I know this has been talked about before and to be honest this is the first time I have taken this stance, but I firmly believe we need to unload some veterans this offseason for first day picks. And I am sorry but the top two guys to do that would be Jason Taylor and Zacht Thomas. Please don't go nuts these are/were my favorite players for a long time. But it just seems like year after year they break down at the end of the season with injuries. If we could get like a 1st and a 3rd for Jason and a 2nd for zacht I would do it in a second. I would also draft a DE in round one, I don't know if he would fall to us but Mario Williams, DE, North Carolina State (Jr.): At 6-7, 285 pounds sounds like a good fit.

The team has so many needs like CB/WR/LB/Safety/OL/QB the list is long, we need draft picks on the first day.

Everyone on this team is replacable. I don't know if saban has the guts to make this move, but I hope he does. In my mind it comes down to being good or being great.

noone is going to give us what JT or zach are worth... if someone would give us a 1st and 3rd for JT id do it id miss him a bunch but id do it but trading zach is not a option for me id be super pissed if it happens...bottom line noone is goona give us what they are worth i want to see them dolphins till they retire

Actually we would need to draft a hybrid DE/LB to replace JT in our system. I'm not a draft guy, but if you can find a good prospect we'll talk. optimal size is 6'4"-6'5" 260-280. Needs to be able to cover a RB in the flat, blitz the QB, and support the run. a Willie mcginest type of guy

i wonder if kiwi could pull it off 6'7" 265....maybe ray edwards 6'7" 270

You don't get rid of Zach and JT because they are your biggest contributors.
there are some other vets that will likely be gone... like Madison...comes to mind.
We need these guys to lend their experience to the rookies we draft. And with another year in this system, I don't believe we've seen their potential.
We aren't going to unload the whole ship... a couple of guys this offseason... and a gradual change will happen.

yep

they are the heart and soul of this team tradeing them is giveing up on next season

Madison is the first guy I would get rid of , but I don't see a market for him at all especially with his current contract, thats why I didn't mention him.

As for Jason and zacht, I would make the move, if they are hurt down the stretch every year what is the point of them playing? I don't get it, it seems year after year they are both nicked up and/or hurt. It almost reminds me of fiedler. Fiedler was a decent QB, he just seemed to get hurt every year and miss key stretches of the season. These guys are getting up there in years. I see this as our biggest opportunity of the offseason. The only problem is I don't see anyone giving us a first day pick for zacht.

When you say they are the heart and soul of the team, I don't necessarily disagree, but I haven't seen much heart and soul out of this team in a few years... and even when we were decent the defense consistantly collapsed and never got a big stop.

Zach is the best MLB in the NFL

If you get rid of him and Taylor you are giving up on next season

Taylor plays through pain, and Zach had a fluke injury they still have good years

also Sam wont go anywhere, he wants to finish his career in miami even if he takes a pay cut

because they were on the field so much and worn out by the end of the games, most of the time it was role player break downs, example being Reggie Howard vs New England

the point is even them playing hurt they are still better than almost anyone...and im sure someone would give a first day pick for zach(late2 or 3)but no way in hell i do it ..you do not get better by getting rid of guys like JT or zach they are the heart and soul of this defense and no way in hell id do it unless there is a huge offer

We may package a player with a pic to move up...but unless it is for cap reasons, I don't think you'll see a lot of trades like the Surtain trade.

I dont see very many draft day trades

The only thing I see possible

is

Ricky and our 1st pick to move up and draft a young QB or other needed position

other than that id be very suprised to see a trade

You don't need a DE/LB to replace JT.What you'd do is draft a bigger DE to play DE in the 3-4 and then you'd use an OLB that can rush the passer or that can cover...a guy like Hawk or Greenway.JT's not really the kind of DE that you should use in a 3-4.He's perfect for a 4-3 but he can't cover downfield.

Ozzy rules!!

to those heart of the team guys: they traded Jr Seau to us and he was the heart and sole of the Bolts now look how good they are doing. Its replacing polayers or building up teams that is important.

Now on that note I honestly feel like Zach and JT want to retire as dolphins. It would hurt me to cheer against them.
