I haven't been terribly impressed with Mora over the last few years in Atlanta. He took a superb athlete like Vick and forced him to use a system that restrained his talents. Then he collected an assembly of great players and did nothing with them except teach them how to chop block. On the other hand, I keep reading posts reminding me about the wonders Gailey did with Chambers and Lamar. I started to get slightly excited about Gailey and did a quick Yahoo search on his reputation at Georgia Tech. It appears that it's notso hotso. Here's a blog link for the Atlanta Journal Constitution and the fans have no problem with him leaving for the 'Phins: http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-blogs/ajc/tech/entries/2007/01/05/can_chan_be_rep.html

The Atlanta writers aren't too much kinder to Gailey (if you Yahoo further you'll find articles that skewer the poor guy reminiscent of the way Wanny was gently pummeled by the media).

I was hoping we'd get some innovative offense to join our awesome defense; instead, it looks like we're choosing between one innovative coach that has crushed Michael Vick's development (as well as a few D linemen's knees; Marcus Vick must be chugging Pepto at this point) and one who's being gently pushed out of Atlanta as a so-so college coach.

Does anyone know why Norm Chow hasn't been considered? It seems he'd be an innovative head coach who could leave the defense to Capers.

Im not really happy with how this thing has gone down... Mora and Gailey both seem like sub-par coaching candidates.

I am both a Dolphins fan and a Georgia Tech fan.

Gaileys offense is extremely vanilla as we all remember the first time he was here. This has not changed.

Gailey was blessed with Calvin Johnson. He was all we had this year. Jackets QB Reggie Ball was awful. Why Gailey kept him in all season I will never know. The running game was pretty good with Tashard Choice but not spectacular. Chan Gailey is an okay college coach but I was hoping for more than okay for the Phins.

Then there is Mora jr. UGGGGGHHHH!

I am literally sick tonight.

Looks like it is down to mediocrity or bizarro world.

Woo! Hoo!

As far as Norm Chow I believe it could be an age issue. He is 61 years old.

The Dolphins will choose Mora Jr. Selecting Gailey makes too much sense. We just made Capers the highest paid defensive coordinator in the world. Bringing Mora in would gives another defensive guy and would solidify our status as worst offense going into 2007. Then, we retain Mularkey... now I'm fantasizing, we could easily go 2-14. Then during the season when we're 1-11, Mora will "joke" about taking a high school job get fired and Wayne, himself, will be the head coach. I miss saban already!!! :sidelol:

Don't miss Saban for a blink of an eye. He surrounded himself with some of the best and highest paid assistants around (who are still under contract), he had a blank check when it came to free agents, he had high draft picks, he demanded and got himself a $10M practice bubble, he handpicked scouts to seek "his kind of players", he knew many of the college players personally and knew who to pick and who not to, he had Lineham (who would have made a fine coach)-Capers-Houck, he had some amazing players, and a great fan base: BUT HE COULDN'T GET IT DONE AND THREW HIS OWN FOLKS UNDER THE BUS ON THE WAY OUT OF TOWN. Saban was all bark and no bite; he couldn't deliver even when given every edge imaginable. Look at what Payton has done with the turd he inherited. Saban shouldn't be missed.

Actually I think we all have to wait and see what happens with the S.D. situation first.

Gailey is ahead of Mora though in my mind.

Really FinFang? My best friend's family has generations of family that attended GT. His grandfather is a big time booster for GT. I talked to him when he was here in Jacksonville for the ACC Championship and the Gator Bowl. He's a real nice guy. He said he was happy with Chan Gailey. He didn't sound like him or any of his "high ranking friends" had any problems with Chan. He also wasn't happy about the ACC loss either. He thinks GT is right on the cusp of becoming an elite contender for BCS bowls every year. I try and get in touch with my friend about some "up-to-the-minute" Chan Gailey information, but he's been working out with the USA Men's Volleyball team in Anaheim, CA so it's difficult to communicate with him.

I have to side with FinFang. I'm currently a student at GT, and there is not one person I know down there that would be upset to see him leave. As a matter of fact, everyone is giving me crap since Im a Dolphins fan and we may end up getting him as our head coach.

Gailey never embraced at Tech

Gailey never embraced at Tech

Their football coach has just interviewed for two NFL jobs, and unless my hearing has betrayed me I’ve noted no groundswell of fear/outrage from Georgia Tech fans. This, I submit, leads to an obvious conclusion:
A lot of Tech fans hope Chan Gailey leaves.
Gailey is, as has been noted, an odd case. He’s respected enough as a football man to be viewed as a viable head-coaching candidate by not one but two of the NFL’s proudest franchises, and yet he has worked here five years  never having a losing season, never failing to grace a bowl  without having won over his constituency. And if, having just completed the best of the five seasons, he hasn’t done it by now, there’s little chance he will
