Game comes down to one last play with :5 sec left.............

OK, here is the situation: Fins are down by 2 with :30 left in the game, the Jest have the ball with 3rd and 9 on the jest 5 yard line. Favre throws a post deep to Jerrico cotchery but andre goodman intercepts it and takes it all the way to the 2 yard line where he gets tackled. Fins call timeout with :05 left. The winds are gustin at 45 MPH and the wind on the field is blowing opposite of what the flags indicate.

Would you rather go for a field goal or have the offense make a play? if you chose a play wich one?

I would would make a play, I just dont trust Carpenter that much yet, if he misses, we are done. I would use the Wildcat and run it with ricky on the option for a pitch from ronnie if needed. The wildcat gives the fins a lot of options depending on how the Jest play it. Keep in mind that this game could come down to the last play.

Your thoughts?

I'd give it to Carpenter since he's been keep PATs all day and this isn't much different, in your scenario.

I see you covered my scenario on the previous set of downs.. except mine has a desparate old gunslinger with memories of facing a team not yet solidified in the first game, who will throw up a hail mary or try to force a round ball into a square pegged-prevent D.. and have Goodman, Bell or W Allen pick it off to end the game, just like what happened last season playoff game in overtime in GB.

Why would Favre throw a deep post when they are up by 2 with :30 to go?

No you didn't,, I just worded that wrong: should have been "the scenario in my head," where like game #1 Favre is playing catch-up, but thanks for the considerate intent.:up:
 
Seriously, why would the Jets risk a safety when they're only up 2? I think some of you expect the Jets to just hand this game over. Calling a pass play from your 5 when you're up 2 would GUARANTEE your firing.

I know Favre's decision-making is lacking at times but some of you act like he's the worst QB in the league. He's JUST AS LIKELY to burn you as he is to make a mistake.

He didn't get to be a first ballot Hall of Famer by being a complete idiot. He takes some chances, but he's not suicidal.
 
I think if I were Farve I'd take a knee and burn the clock out.

ETA: Give it to carp. Wind is not an issue for an extra point.
