Where to start? First off, I guess I'll start with the offense.....

QB C. Pennington was horrible. I was extremely disppointed with the way he looked, and in my opinion he made maybe 5 good throws the entire game. I'm not convinced he's our best option at starting QB anymore.....

The running game was invisible. Both Ricky / Ronnie were completely shut down. Nothing more to say there, it was a joke trying to run against the Jets yesterday....

Our big #1 draft pick J. Long was totally dominated, and almost got Pennington killed a couple of times. He looked lost, and if that's the case, he shouldn't be out there starting. As a whole this OL looked soft, and when facing the blitz, they looked terrible....

The WR's??...we don't have any. We do have a great young TE named A. Fasano however, and he is going to be our best recieving threat this year without question. That doesn't leave much for hope with 15 games left if you ask me....

The ST's were the worst I've seen. Carpenter / Fields both totally sucked. From shanked punts, to kickoffs going out of bounds, those two should be feeling somewhat responsible for this loss. By the way, does anyone know if Ginn played yesterday???...

The defense was way out of their league. It was obvious from that first TD that it was going to be a very long HOT day. The Jets ran at will, and Favre was able to comfortably scan the field on most passing plays. The Jets OL basically owned our front 7 in my opinion....

The coaching decisions were poor, the playcalling was weak, and there were way too many penalties on both sides. This was a downright disturbing start to the season. We played no better than we were a year ago, and unless both the offense / defense get their ***** in gear, this is going to be a season filled with huge questions and doubts....

Well I pm'ed you looking for brilliant opinions and honestly Im disappointed buddy. Have to totally disagree with you on Pennington. He had guys pressuring him all day and still was able to manage the game fairly well. He started off shaking, missing two easy passes to Grigsby and Ricky that couldve gotten drives going. After that though, he played pretty damn well considering we couldnt run the ball and the OL was a seive.

I totally agree with you about the WR's and the OL. It wasnt pretty. But, remember we started off the season last year struggling on the OL and then began running the ball pretty well when Ronnie was going off. Everyone was talking about how our line was starting to gel. I think it could happen again, especially considering we have 3 new guys. And I dont think you can argue that we had much of a deep passing threat last year either, yet we were still able to run it well with Ronnie before he got injured. I expect that to get better.

The WRs are just a joke and I cant believe Wilford was inactive. We need an upgrade there big time.

I dont care for the way the Jets were able to run either, but I wouldnt say the D was totally manhandled. They got some decent pressure on Favre a few times. In fact they had like 3 or 4 sacks. But, we definately need to do better against the run or it will be a long season.

And yea, Special teams was just a joke all the way around. What in the hell were they doing having Bess return a few kicks instead of Ginn?

WHAT???????? Pennington was HORRIBLE????? Did you watch the game???? He was the ONLY one who looked like he knew what he was doing!!

WOW!!

I pretty much agree.

It's nice to vent but IMO there was some positives here. They FINALLY made adjustments as a coaching staff. Remember this is a new staff and they need to see these guys in game action - real game action. The Jets had 9 in the box the whole 1st half. Not sure why we didn't rty and open it up earlier to spread them out. You can't run with 9-10 in the box - that was ridiculous. We went 2 TE's and 1 RB and kept them in to block - WHY??? The Jets spread us out and that opened up Jones in the running game.

I thought the coaches made good adjustments in the 2nd half. The defense stepped up and played pretty good.

OL looked bad BUT you can't expect them to block 8-9 guys coming from all over. Pennington looked terrible early - he was probably too jacked up.

The WR's are not starting material. Bess and Cam are good #3 guys but we have no clear #1. Ginn should be our return guy - he has to have to ball in his hands as much as possible. He cannot beat double teams just yet. He needs to get touches though. You have to mix in a spread offense at times to change up the D.

RB is the a top 5 back!!!! How is this guy not our featured back? Why would Cobbs come in for 3rd downs? Are you kidding me? He wouldn't be on most teams roster let alone playing over RW and RB! Big mistake!!

Have to totally disagree with you on Pennington.

Let's just put it this way. The sooner Henne is ready to start, the better....

He had guys pressuring him all day and still was able to manage the game fairly well. He started off shaking, missing two easy passes to Grigsby and Ricky that couldve gotten drives going. After that though, he played pretty damn well considering we couldnt run the ball and the OL was a seive.

I respect your opinion, but I don't think Pennington played very well at all. I don't think his numbers tell the entire story here either. It took almost the entire game before he started to find a comfort zone of any kind, and by then it was too late....

He was slow out of the gate, and it basically stayed that way until we were desperate on offense in the 4th quarter. I had to cringe everytime he threw the ball yesterday, and that's not a pleasant feeling when you've got Jets fans in your ear laughing at you the entire time....

I dont care for the way the Jets were able to run either, but I wouldnt say the D was totally manhandled.

I would....

Major problem yesterday was pass protection from the O line. It all starts with the Oline. Running game never got going and CP had pressure on most passing plays.
Lets face it the Jets have a very good defense going against a young Fins line. The result is what happened yesterday. I have said it for months that whomever is QB back there is going to struggle this year. Henne is not going to make a difference until there is some protection and the WR's can create some seperation.

When you start two rookies on the oline, one of which is the LT, there's going to be growing pains. It doesn't help that the QB has 3 weeks in the system.

What I would have done differently is spread it out instead of the two TE sets they were running. Get 4 wrs in there. Use the short middle with them and create things.

Another thing I would have done differently is run it twice with 3rd and goal from the 2.

All in all a mistake prone 1-15 team gave itself a chance to win in the end. Having Wilford may have helped on the last series.

Blitz I love most of your write ups but you are wrong today.

Chad Penny did look bad in the 1st half, but 2nd half, especially 4th quarter he looked outstanding.

The running game will be shut out just about anytime a team puts 8 people in the box and dares you to pass.

Jake Long looked pretty good out there to me with the exception of 2 penalties and he did get beat a couple of times.

I agree, WR play was absolutely horrible. Wilford has to be better than some of our other WR's, he just has to be.

Yup, ST sucked, agree there.

Agree somewhat on Defense, D line looked good and showed flashes but LB's allowed Thomas Jones 101 yards and Secondary looked horrid out there with the exception of Yeremiah Bell.

Playcalling wasn't too good I agree. Fade route to Ginn???????

As far as you saying you didnt see any improvement over last year is pretty pitiful to be honest, you must've just watched parts of the game? Not really too sure there.

All F's isn't fair either, C-'s yes but all F's? One of your worst write up's ive ever read. I will just assume your are very pissed to see the fins lose a close one.

The entire team looked terrible. Blitz.. I am leary of starting Henne because I understand the value of grooming a QB. And its one loss. It's not week 10. Of all people I didn't expect you to throw Penny under the bus so fast. Or any other payer for that matter.

Not that I disagree with your analysis. I was very disappointed as well.. it was almost like Miami is a place for QBs come to die. I hope as the year progress.. my opinion changes.

That's almost funny.

Chad had a better game than Farve did. Joe Montana couldn't win a game with our WR corp.

Pennington did a very good job, we were one play away from winning a game that most people thought we had no chance to win.

If Ginn would have JUMPED up for the JUMP pass or at the very least broken up the pass we might still have won the game. After watching that play over and over I still don't see his feet ever leave the ground.

Actually the worst play was the kick-off that went out of bounds. If the Jests don't get the ball on the 40, they might have never scored that TD...

F's? In every phase of the game? You don't play F level football in all three phases and lose by 6 with a throw to win the game at the end in the NFL. The only teams who graded out to an F this week are Seattle and St. Louis. Take some time to cool off and act rationally.

Here’s my opinion on things.

The tight end was what the defense was giving us. The Jets line backers and safeties made mistakes in coverage watching Fasano. Pennington didn’t play all that bad but the offense needs to find some patterns that he can exploit. He didn’t look at times that he knew our maybe didn’t feel comfortable making some throws till it was maybe a shy too late.

Pennington also must start to recognize the blitz coming and it looked to me like he thought it was zone when they were playing man and vise versa.

Jake Long made some mistakes yes but thinking about it he probably has never in his football career seen such stunts. Man, those d-linemen in the pro’s can move! He can be coached and game experience will help.

Our defense can not stop the run. We need an ILB so badly it hurts! Even little things like when they bounced a run out side ……now I know the right thing for the corner or safety is to turn him back inside but that’s High school! This is the pro’s you need to make that tackle or at least slow him down. The backs even if they do get turned back to a linebacker will fall for 4 or 5 more yards!

Coaching was a little bit of a concern they looked as inconsistent as the rest of this football team.

The positives that came from this were we stuck in this game. It could have been much, much worse. There is plenty of things that can be corrected relatively easily in practice and by watching the game film. First game things that can and I’m sure will be addressed.

Other than the obvious you want Henne in there start of that thread I thought it was accurate, however to say Penne was horrible is way off. You usually write a good post but you are wrong about the QB situation. Penne kept us in the game. 43 throws, do you expect them to all be perfect. Watch a few of those passes to the TEs and tell me they did not have to be perfect throws to be completed.

I think you have a personal agenda in wanting everyone to agree with you that Henne should be in there. Do you want another Beck disaster? not me, I can wait till he is ready to win the job. In the meantime, Penne will do well.
