Well, I watched the game and was impressed by a few things.
The running of Lamar Miller. Had a pretty decent game, a good run of 33 or so yards, and 80 odd all up I think.
The play of Jarvis Landry. Except for the fumble, I will come to that soon, he had a great game. Reminds me in many ways of Bess when he had his big year. A great 3rd receiver, knows where the 1st down marker is and has very good hands. He will be a solid WR for us for many years to come.
Hartline was spotted. Had a very good game, after a few games doing sfa. A couple of great catches and good YAC.
Tannehills play was solid yet unspectacular. Some good runs, some very good passes, but still missed on a few deep balls to Walace.
our O line did much better than I expected. 5 sacks wasn't that bad, and none of them were really in crap field position that I can recall.
Jamar Taylor had a decent game, a few very good passes defended plus a couple of great stops when the bills were close on 3rd downs.
what I did notice however, and watched the comments on the game thread, I saw that many many posts were extremely negative. The fumble from RT was an example. Yes it was bad, but too me, I thought he was going very close to get a 1st down, or perhaps run the ball in for a TD. The play from the DE (his name escapes me) was outstanding. To run him down and knock the ball loose was brilliant. Frustrating but brilliant.
His miss on the deep ball down the right side to MW was by maybe 3 inches out. Could Wallace have layer out for it, probably, but he didn't, and generally doesn't, which I think is a knock on his play. But, It was to me catchable, yet RT copped a heap of grief from armchair critics on here.
i noticed that on the Landry fumble, which I thought he was down by contact, he was going for the extra yard. Which is what everyone wants. Some cried that he should have gone down, taken the tackle, which is exactly what tedd ginn used to do, and got blasted week in week out by the FH followers. It's a case of if any player makes an error, he gets blasted up hill and down dale.
The time out in the 1st quarter immediately before the Williams 30 yard play was blasted by 90% of you on her as a wasted time out. Well, it wasn't. They last a few yards on the play before, were 3rd and 22 or something, and Philbin or Lazor pulled that from there backsides.
The plays from the front d line and LB in the 1st half was terrible against the run. Way too many holes up the middle and easy 3rd down conversions, plus 3 or more to Hogan which many blasted the front office for letting go. Yes he can play, but he wasn't going to get a chance in Miami. I thought the adjustments at half time defensively was great.
Miami deserved to win. There were a few calls that went there way, the intentional grounding/safety call. If it were Brady, it would have been an incomplete pass. The Landry TD, I thought his knee was down with the ball about 12 inches short of the goal line. Wake was being held a lot, as was odrick. The biggest issue I thought was in the last 3 minutes of the game, up 19-9, on the bills 10 yard game, we IMO settled for a field goal. 2 runs were somewhat lame, and the pass on the 3rd play wasn't great . I thought they shut up shop. The bills were still a chance, even down 22-9 after the fg, to pick up the points needed to tie or win. To me, they should have pressed for a TD to really put the game out of reach.
But the biggest thing I saw was the negative comments on the game thread. Every single time the slightest error was made, or what people deemed to be the wrong call, people blew up deluxe. Some blowups were called for, but most were not. Yes it's frustrating at times, very. But the way the team played, under pressure from a great front defensive 4 from the Bills, and the way they adjusted too me was great.
Miami played well. Not great, but they are not a 5 TD a game team. Not regularly. They don't have the arsenal to score 30 odd points every week. People need to accept that. The defence is top 5 in the league. They lost in the last plays to Detroit, with a 7-2 record, and they lost to the Pack with Rogers, who is a top 3 QB. Our defence keeps us in most games.
People just need to chill a bit. We are not a Super Bowl team, not this year. We are closer to being a good team that can make the playoffs than what we have been in the past 10 years.
And i I felt much happier watching the game and turning off the game thread.
Just my opinion.
