I was again watching the highlights on the Franks kick to send it to over time. Now Rex may not have called the time out in time, but #30 on the defense did. As you can see in the video link, he is counting the number of players on the field for Buffalo and they only had 10 guys on the field. When he realized that he was trying to call timeout for a good 2 seconds before the snap and was ignored. We actually did catch a major break on that but i will take it.

May have caught a break, but maybe he makes the kick anyway. If you look at the kick Franks hit high off the up right with earlier it looked like it had the distance to be good from 55. If Buffalo gets the time out and Miami makes the second kick people would be saying Miami got lucky because they got a practice kick prior to the one that counted. Maybe it was just fate smiling on Franks.

F... Em! Thats part of the new miami dolphins streak of goodness. Its about time things starts going our way.

Eh. So that's twice in a crucial moment of the game they didn't have enough guys on the field? They deserved to lose that game then. Why didn't he shout it to the ref right next to him instead of just shouting it into the air?

They can't even get a replay right when J-Train gets the clear recovery of a fumble....I don't expect much out of these clowns anymore!

I don't see anyone going back and taking a super bowl away from New England ... I'll take a game tying 3 pter

If I'm not mistaken, only the quarterback and head coach can call a timeout. Don't think a random defender on the field can. I could be wrong, but that's always been my impression and understanding.

Edit: I'm wrong.

The NFL rule states a head coach or any player on the field (not a substitute) can call a timeout.Sep 15, 2014

I believe part of the timeout rule.....involves getting the attention of a referee before the snap....it is not reviewable by film, and is the fault of the team who waited too long to attempt to call the timeout, if a referee does not see the player attempting to call a timeout.

This. You tell the ref beforehand that you are going to call a TO.

Exactly, the fault lies with the Bills...they failed to get the attention of the ref and Rex playing ice the ****ing kicker bull**** was too slow getting it to the ref. All the video shows is that the player was inadequately coached on how to call an effective time out. This entire sequence shows why Rex is a is an idiot and should not an NFL head coach.

Ref cant keep an eye on all 22 players pre-snap just seconds before the kick, you have to get the refs attentions. Like just about any other head coach Rex should have been standing next to the ref and should have already told him he's going to call TO just before the kick. He failed to do that and so did his coached player.

Yeah that was the old "I'm gonna half ass do this so my ass is covered if he makes it" attempt at a TO

I would feel more sorry for them if Rex wasn't obviously standing on the sideline next to the ref trying to game a timeout by calling it after he saw the Dolphins snap the football.
