Give Tony Sparano and Dan Henning credit for something few coaching staffs do: They decided their weakness could trump the Patriots' weakness. They had Chad Henne and the questionable receiving corps could put up Marino numbers - 52 times for 335 yards - to take advantage of New Englands' defensive problems.
The problem isn't just a young and under-talented secondary. It's also the pass rush. You think the Patriots miss defensive end Richard Seymour (traded to Oakland for a 2011 first-round pick)? They're 28th in the league with 20 sacks (Dolphins are tied for third with 35). They sacked Henne once Sunday.
We're used to the Dolphins running the ball to try and control the game. On Sunday, they kept control by short to mid-range passes to Davone Besse (10 catches, 117 yards) and Anthony Fasano (5, 67).
Ricky Williams wasn't over-used Sunday with 18 carries and 75 yards. Instead, it was the passing game that, for once, carried them.
