I'm tired of all the posts having to do with free agency and the draft, especially because we have been reduced to pure speculation. What about our offensive playbook and gameplan for the upcoming season?
I believe that Ronnie has the ability to assert himself as an elite running back, and that we should really focus our entire offense around him. This post can be considered more a question than anything else. Considering the situation of Beck, our receivers, and Ronnie, Ricky, and Booker, what do you guys think will be our main offensive weapons in the upcoming season? It seems that we have a lot invested in Teddy Ginn as our primary receiver: how can we call plays that will take advantage of his strengths?
In my own opinion, we should ride the lightning of Ronnie, Ricky, and Booker as far as it goes. Beck seems to be able to throw decently well, so our receivers seem to decide our passing game. Wilford should be a plausible deep threat as a possesion receiver, and Ginn as a burner. Play action will definitely be a threat, with teams attempting to compensate for our running game and not respecting our passing. I think that Ginn would be best encorporated by running screens, end arounds, and quick routes in his favor. Wilford seems to make use of his height as a possesion type receiver.
In effect, I would like to see some general ideas of how our offense will work next year with consideration to the strength of our offensive weapons.

I'm going to make this short: Our offense will be pretty basic. We will run 65% of time or more with an occasional shot down field, with a lot of short passes to the TE and occasionally down the seam. And we'll hit our RBs on some swing passes and we'll likely use quite a few screens. This is based on the history of Dan Henning. He is a very conservative, ball control offensive guy. This will not, by any stretch of the imagination, be an explosive passing offense. It will be dull - particularly this first season with the new regime until we feel things out with what we have as far as offensive talent goes. As we gain more talent, the QB situation becomes definitively settled, and we add the players needed to attack the defense more, then we will likely open it up A BIT. But don't look for Henning to turn into Mike Martz and turn the Dolphins offense into a spread offense that destroys defenses. We will be in a lot of close games because of ball control and a strong defense.

good post by the way

You really have to admit that on paper we really have some elite weapons. In fact, from the skill positions (minus qb) we might have one of the potentially best groups in the league. That being said, there are some ifs. What if Ronnie Brown doesnt recover etc. So there are some question marks... but at least for the first time in i don't know how long I think it will be fun to watch our offense (and im going back to perhaps as far as the year we had irving fryar, oj mcduffie and terry kirby - the only other year might have been Ricky's first but only because he was so special) Beck, I feel is pretty accurate down the field - so that could make things exciting. McCown is very athletic (the guy ran a 4.5 40 - detroit even had him at wide receiver and he played some). I think because of the lack of proven experience at quarterback we will rely heavily on the run and playaction. It would be nice to know TE was solid, and the line needs to come together - it will be better than last year tho. All in all, I think our offense could actually surprise some people. This team has too many holes to be a really good team in the league at this point - but, it also has some nice pieces and its possible we could have a year like the jets did two years ago (seriously look at that team...i prefer some of the pieces we have then what they have/had)

I still think our best offensive weapon has yet to be added to the roster at this point. I know, Captain Obvious here....

There are usually some really good players that come available over the summer.

I really hope Ronnie is back close to %100. If he is running it like he did at the beginning of last year, every other part of the offense will start to click. The talent is there....

Heave it 40 yards downfield to Ginn and pray that he takes it to the house. Thats my gameplan :)

Dan Henning is the OF so expect alot of power running, play action plays and shots downfield with Ginn.

What's this got to do with Beck vs Ryan, J.Long can play LT vs he can't, C.Long DE or OLB, Beck sucks, Ryan sucks, We should have drafted Quinn, Quinn sucks, trade the first for 10 million picks and P.Manning, Cam sucks, We need to take V.Gholston in the 6th round, your way off topic. Please don't ever do that again, you create a sense of chaos with these intelligent posts.

fairly conservative...but parcells definitely takes his fair share of shots down field

I am sorry but if parcells is thinking about what offensive plays we should call he is not doing his job. I for one think he has no interest in any aspects of coaching a team, let alone trying to play GM, head coach, DC and OC. If he did we will lose him by midseason to burnout.

I agree with your post and I like your avatar

Ozzy rules!!

we will run hard and often next year. i want ricky to be abused while ronnie is recovering. but with the arm of beck and speed of ginn, we need to take more than an occasional shot downfield to keep defenses honest. i am so sick of seeing 8 and 9 guys in the box and a 2 yard pass - they will do it every time unless they have a reason not to. beck better be ready to be blitzed next year - hoping he can muster up some courage and composure. good post.

Pretty much. But we'll be more aggressive and have more of a solid, realistic game plan. It want be run, run, pass on third and long, then punt. Henning is pretty conservative, but he is a bit more creative than what Wanny and company brought to the table.
