E12 FH Tailgate Gang
Gametime: 21:00 (MEZ)
Referee: Benito Archundia (Mexiko)
Place: Dortmund Westfalen Stadion (reg season capacity: 81,000; WC capacity: 65,000)
Stadium was build in 1974. It was build based on the typical english soccer stadium: 4 sides, close to the field of play. The Westfalen Stadion always had quite steep seating and standing areas. When it was build, the corners were still open and capacity was 44,000.
In 2001 renovation began and the 4 stand-alone stands were jojned, the stadium enclosed and seating capacity was increased to 81,000. For international games the capacity is reduced to 67,000. Some of the standing room only (as it is typical for Bundesliga games) are converted into seats to confoprm with international standards. After completion of the renovation in 2002/2003 the stadium naming rights were sold and the stadium was named Signal Iduna Park, yet it is still referred to by its old name (Westfalenstadion). Because it has a private sponsored name the stadium has been named FIFA Worldcup Stadium for the duration of the cup-as all stadiums have with sponsored names.
The southend of the stadium seats 25,000 people alone and with that the south end is the biggest terrace of any stadium in europe. This side is usually the home side of the fans.
Germany never lost in Dortmund.
