Garrard-Gordon trade *SPECULATION*

For the people who think I made this trade up I found the thread in the old forums on page 7 it was posted by cashman34

So let me get this right, people are complaining because Ronnie is not in training camp yet which is apparently destroying his development, but there are people who actually think we can acquire a career backup quarterback and have him ready to start in less than a month.

I don't think so jlfin. If they offered Leftwich or Garrard, your choice, for Gordon, who would you pick?? Exactly....

Obviously Leftwich has a bigger upside. However, haven't been overly impressed with him. I think he's over rated.
But, yes he did outplay him for a stretch during the preseason and in spot duty during the regular season. If you recall, prior to last season many fans in J-ville (media writers also) were questioning whether he was the long term answer at QB for the team.
We are not exactly talking Dan Marino/ Scott Mitchell here.

Again the point of my post was to suggest that Garrard would be an intriguing pick up. I never stated that he would be the clear cut starter over Feeley or Frerotte.

I don't think he would start game 1 but he might be able to start by game 3 or 4. I don't really see us trading Gordon before Ricky comes back, unless Brown catches on really really quick.

I'd rather give Feeley every chance to excel and draft a QB regardless. Unless Saban is really sold on Garrard, he would probably rather trade Gordon for a draft pick.

foxsports says he is on the block

It is being reported that Gordon is on the trade block because of how good Williams has looked and the strong play of Harris so far. The Jaguars are rumoured to be interested so the trade of Garrard is a possibility, though a draft pick may be more realistic.

I know it's off topic but has anyone heard anymore on Ronnie will he be there on August 8th in Canton?

Lets trade for another career backup qb. That way Sage would have some competion for 3rd string. Trades for qbs usually don't happen in the middle of training camp. Give me one of their defensive tackles instead.

If the deal goes down and we get Garrard, who thinks he can come in and start over A.J. and Gus?
No way this trade happens. The Jags wanted a No. 1 for Garrard & no way does Gordon equal a No. 2 much less a No. 1.

If Miami would happen to trade for him then they would have to up the anty.

Its not looking good at this point. No real news on the topic, just my opinion.

Im not sure Garrard is the answer at Qb but he's probaly as good a prospect or better than Feeley and Gordon isnt a longterm Rb here with Brown and Ricky it would be a good deal to get Garrard for Gordon. The Jags may have been asking for a 1st in exchange for Garrard but that doesnt mean he's worth it, Gordon and a late round pick is pretty fair.
