Garrard's take on Ryan Clark comments

i'm sure that its common for players to be asked about their family background and their parents profession, the type of home they were raised in, etc...just because the answer may be controversial doesn't mean that the question should be avoided

I'm reading this thread and nobody has brought up the point that he is the FIRST Phin to stand up for his team...

Good start by David imo.

he didnt have to say much.there are many reports...

Yea well there u go

He sensationalized his own momma then, because this certainly wouldn't have gotten out to the extreme it did if he said nothing.

Jeff Ireland being an awkward person in general is a reason why certain Free Agents don't get "that vibe" from him. That Dez Bryant stuff has nothing to do with it and I'm tired of media using that as a cop out to help them on radio shows, tv shows and in articles.

You really can't think that! The vet min for a qb is around a million per year. You guts are taking the word of a guy that just signed, and denying or ignoring the wood and actions of Harbaugh, Fisher, Zimmer, Manning, Smith, and many more.

No, I know based on life's experience, there are always, essentially going to be haters. The GM position, is a position where there is a lot of hate that gets directed at it. This is the case in most sports situations, not exclusive to the NFL, and especially not with the Miami Dolphins.

Now if you want to take players opinions about a GM as some kind of negative omen for Ireland or the Phins, then I say you and anyone else are essentially naive ppl.

IMO, the 2 key issues that publicly have hurt MIAMI are; 1) Ireland's question about Dez Bryant's Mother and 2) Ross's chase of Harbaugh, while Sparano was still the coach. There could be other incidents, that haven't made the front page news, that we are unaware of as well. If Ireland is a hard nosed contract negotiator, I can live with that; after all, he has a salary cap to contend with; but, IF he is lacking in attitude and demeanor or perhaps verbage, that is completely on him. Ross and Ireland do not make for a comforting F/O combo to say the least. Also keep in mind former players, players around the league and now the media types are seemingly bashing the team publicly. And if you believe some in the media, current players are speaking negatively about the F/O. We don't really know what is going on behind closed doors. In all of my life, as a sports fan, I can't recall so many people putting down a franchise, like what is currently happening to Miami. It's mind boggling hearing all these people speculating or claiming they know things about what is being said in private. The only ways to stop this nonsense is to WIN and prove to the world, Miami is a great place!!!

Excellent post. I find it extremely disrespectful for Players or other teams to speak disparagingly about another player of another team. There should be a level of respect shown to the organizations and players because ultimately the NFL is one organization and fraternity. I find Clarke's comments to be reprehensible and believe he should be fined. The other comment that drievs me crazy is when players come out against other players, especially if the potential player is to join their team. Cromartie has public spoken out against Tim Tebow and him joining the Jets.To me this is again fine worthy because you are creating unnecessary tension for a potential team mate. The NFL is a career for these players and that statement is jeaporadizing a young players career and i have zero respect for that.

Ryan Clark is a hypocrite. He was never seriously considering signing with anyone other than the Steelers. He lied to the Dolphins organization for the sole purpose of using them as leverage to negotiate a better deal with the Steelers.
Maybe he's the one who can't be trusted.

You do realize that Clark signed for LESS than he would have gotten in Miami, right? #hatersgonnahate

I mean the Gerrard signing is not really anything to get excited about, but one thing is at least he is classy and always has been throughout his entire career. Another thing, he is a Miami Dolphins player that has been with the team no more than a couple days, and the only one to stick up for the franchise. There is credit in that and he just moved up a few notches in my book.

I like Garrard, he seems like a great guy and IF healthy, offers potential as a possible starter in the WCO!!! we'll see how it goes in training camp.

I recall Jeromy Burnitz and Joe Randa, two players at the end of their careers with nobody chasing them down for contracts, saying the same about the Pirates when they were grossly overpaid by them. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig.

I dont know who these guys are you are referring to, point is, not that a pig is a pig, but Gerrard, the newest member of the Fins, is sticking up for the team when longtime tenured Miami players havent said a word, and thats credit that goes a long way with me.

Why would any Dolphins player get in the middle of that? I would think most rational players, have the common sense to simply stay the heck out of it.

Plus how is it news to anyone players hate GM's? I mean come on, this whole thing to me is just a bunch of nonsense.
