Gase: Defense was built to play with a lead...

Defense was built by two mentally challenged individuals high on on PCP tossing darts at a cardboard cutout of Mr Magoo. Wonder what Gase is high on right now.

Actually, I've seem then slack off whether we had a lead or not. Seems to me they're not built to play either way.

They aren't built to play defense. They are an awful. One of the worst coached teams I have seen in recent memory.

5 games in and Gase has shown me not one thing to like.

Its not a good excuse, but he's not wrong.

This team was built to be an offensive team, with a defense that lacked talent, the only way our defense had any shot at being average was if it had tue ability to play downhill.

This defense was never built to play in games coming from behind week in and week out.

Almost all of our resources are on the offensive side of the ball. Tannehill being one of the worst rated QBs in the NFL, destroys this team.

If tannehill can't tannehill cant produce points early, well lose every game. And he hasn't. He's been a complete obsolete qbbin the 1st half of games.

Build it to support a running game.

OK, here is the thing. We are 32nd in time of possession. Last in the NFL.

That means two things, your offense is not on the field long and your defense is.

So Gase planned on us scoring 30 points a game. Well, at least they stopped with some of the hurry up. The hurry up works when your offensive players are older and wiser and have played together longer then the defensive players. When your QB is a veteran. Otherwise, it is a clusterfunk.

If you look at their stats you will see that the teams with the highest TOP are also the top rushing teams like the Titans.

A good way to protect our QB and defense is to run the ball more. I do not know what we can do this year but we need to plan for a different sort of team. A tougher team. It only took them 2 years with the Titans and they are still young and not great, just improved.

So normally i'd give Gase that benefit of time. Unless the draft was his. I hated this draft from the start and we passed on "tough" and "big" players and drafted "nimble" and "quick" ones.

If this team was mine we would of had as our starting RB, D Henry, who alone here would not do that well his 1st season. But we would set a foundation for the future.

Gase has set his foundation in sand. Players who were supposed to do something, players with "potential". If over the last couple of years we had drafted bulldozing OL instead of pass blocking ones who cannot pass block. If the OL does not block well on a running play, we only get 2 yards. If our OL does not pass block well we get sacked.

In the past I've wanted us to show balance and run the ball more and to become a tough team again.

But now to protect Tannehill and our defense, I'd go to running 35 times a game, playing good defense and great specail teams. Yes, we are not going to win a lot of games like that. But then, we are not going to win a lot anyway.

This is just his way of taking responsibility and being accountable for what he was hired to fix, the offense. He is basically taking the fall for how entirely flawed this team is and the way it has been built.

I really don't know what is going on out there. I see guys literally running by backwards on running plays. I don't mean chasing I mean running backwards to meet the RB 6-10 yards downfield. I also feel like the D-line runs themselves out of the majority of the running plays. They get some push then the back runs by and they are out of the play. It's really weird. Also, do we ever double anyone? I'm far from an X's and O's guru but isn't it common knowledge we have NOBODY who can cover AJ Green one in one? Is this not obvious? Is the thinking just somebody needs to step up? I've never seen anything like it, I've even seen our LB's literally in each other's way on running plays too. I've always believed that any team that sells out to stop the run can generally stop it. This is like the first team I've ever seen that can't. Bizarre!

Last years interim DC seemed to have it together more than Joseph. I think this team is going about things all wrong. We need a defensive minded coach, build up the defense with a boring offense than add to the offense. The boring offense great defense formula will win you plenty of games in this league while your building s good complimentary offense. Probably even get you some playoff experience.

Yeah he's avoiding criticizing the defense yet again. Since Tannehill was drafted, how often has Miami scored first? They're almost always behind. Defense built to play with a lead? Why is Miami always deferring then when winning the toss? We saw how Miami defense played with leads vs Seattle, Cleveland and Cincinnati...evaporated pretty fast. Gase is already running out of things to say that make sense 5 weeks in

Yep, look at teams like philly, the steelers, or Dallas. These are not good defenses.

But they play with leads, their offenses are on the field a lot.

And alll of a sudden their defenses are playing well.

People underestimate the effect offense has on the defensive side of the ball. When you can play with a lead, and blitz more often, that's a huge advantage.

When your constantly on the field, your defense will break, its inevitable.

Yeah makes no sense why Gase will build a defense built for playing with a lead with this offense lol

It's annoying, yet hilarious, when people quote certain posters and I have to see the non-sense posted.

Eagles don't have a good defense?! :bobdole:
