Gase on Anthony Steen: "I love the way he plays.”

Anthony Steen made the first start of his life at center in the Dolphins last preseason game. And Miami coach Adam Gase said: “The communication was outstanding. I love the way he plays.” Gase loves that Steen was aggressive, physical and tough. Gase also liked that Steen and quarterback Ryan Tannehill did a solid job redirecting protections against the Falcons.
Steen told The Daily Dolphin, “I thought I did all right. I could have done a lot better, though. There is plenty of room to improve.”
Sitting at an adjoining locker, veteran tackle Sam Young added hat Steen was hardly noticed during the game. That’s what an offensive lineman hopes for, Young said.

I agree with Gase. Steed looks like a steal. Well put together kid. He seems like the type of guy that the Pats, or most teams in the league, can find, and that Miami, until now, couldn't find at all.

Bob Baumhower's nephew (name escapes me), also from the Crimson Tide, is the type of kid I am hoping for here.

Is Steen a steed? Time will tell.

No thanks.

Move him to RG. He's the best pulling lineman we got. Also the line would be absolutely set.
We've seen Pouncey at G... why would we ever want to see that again?

If he can't play there then he needs to be traded. What are the contract stipulations on trading him this or next season? Can we get a 1st rounder for him?

I think Pouncey has kind of gone on record to say he isn't willing to play G again. Will have to look up where that was...

Nope. More thank likely he'll just be cut if they want to move forward with Steen

I don't remember the last time the "next man up" philosophy actually resulted in someone in a Dolphins uniform standing up (especially on the oline). Kid played great. I would love to see what he has at guard when Pouncey returns.

One preseason game and people are ready to dump Pounce....

First, Pouncey is a very good center, he may not warrant the "pro-bowl" status he's been handed, but that doesn't mean he is a poor player.

Steen will make the roster and should add some very solid depth, but lets not act like he was better then Pouncey...a player who consistently grades out the highest on the team and has one of the lower sack rate in the league.

Agreed. For all the negatives Pouncey receives, most observers rate him among top 10 OCs. Stats rank him among top 10 OCs. Teams don't need Pro-bowlers at every position, but the need above average players. Pouncey meets that qualification. If Tunsil and Bushrod can play above average, this OL should be OK. Maybe Steen can replace Pouncey - he's looked good, but in limited snaps. But, for now, Pouncey's the guy.
