several tidbits

“I feel pretty good about what we can do with him,” Gase said on the Joe Rose Show, 560-WQAM. “I feel like we can help him.

“It was going upward from the time he started. I know last year was a hiccup and I know he was disappointed in last year and obviously every Dolphin fan was frustrated with the situation that occurred. We feel really good with the staff we’re putting together, how we’re going to build this thing offensively. I feel like we can help with the sacks, we can eliminate some of these hits he’s taken. That’s going to be key.”

Clyde may end up calling plays as he knows all the terminology and style Gase wants to use

“I’ll be leaning toward offense early but the great thing about bringing Clyde in is it’s somebody that has been in this offense before,” Gase said. “I really stole it from them and Indianapolis. So him walking in, the terminologies are as close as it can get to what they had in Indianapolis. He’s going to be able to set this thing up pretty good where I’m going to be able to make sure I’m doing my job as a head coach but at the same time I’m going to be able to have my imprint on the offense, be able to call the game, be prepared for the game.

“I feel like we kind of mapped this thing out. I feel real comfortable being able to have my hands a little bit on defense and special teams, let those guys do the job but obviously know what’s going on.”

Gase was also thrilled to get Vance Joseph and Matt Burke on staff. Stated those were his top 2 targets in terms of assistants. Was nervous though Hue may take Vance.

Gase on Final Say on roster...
“They kind of came with that to me and we kind of discussed it and I was like ‘Hey we’re doing this thing together,'” Gase said. “And we talked about it. I got the so-called final say on that but I envision being able to do it together with those guys and I know the players they look at it different when the head coach is making that decision. They know where the final say is coming from.”

First person he spoke to after getting the job was Dan Campbell.

Meeting Don Shula was awesome

yea its all just from the wqam interview with Joe.

I get from that he is comfortable with the OC setting up the game plan but Gase with still call the plays on game day.

A hiccup??!! More like a giant belch.

Tell me about it. 12 TD's, 23 INT, and 3,000 crappy yards with a obvious decline in his deep passing game. Not to mention a decrease in his YPA. Plus all this with an offensive line that shot up and improved from 32nd ranked to 31st ranked. Add in an offensive scheme and gameplan that was 2:1 run to pass in the playcalling and a coach who had his back from day one to the last day. No more excuses.

If we're lucky maybe we can trade for Manziel. Talk about a guy who puts in the work, never in trouble, goes to bed at 9pm every night and is the first at the facility. Not to mention his community work. We should be so lucky. :(

Gase sounds like he's real deal. I'm pumped having him lead this ship! This is a new era for us dolphin fans.

I know I look like Putin and I have as much head coaching experience as him, so I'm just going to say this thing a lot and everyone will think that i know that I know what I'm talking about because it sounds like head coach lingo.

Some slap downs are masterpieces. Works of art.

Most excellent.

It works the other way also. If Tannehill has a big year somewhere along the line we need to take full advantage, because it's not likely to become an annual attraction.

The reason I mocked the "improves every year" aspect last offseason is because that type of thing is extremely fragile and mostly irrelevant for a mid level late blooming player. Expect too much and disappointment becomes the favorite.

I will say one thing about this site: The adjustments aren't as overflowing and ridiculous compared to one competitor site that was mentioned briefly the other day. I hadn't been there in a long time. I sampled a few threads. Unbelievable. Every Tannehill thread is occupied by the same 6 or 7 guys, with slightly different versions of the same arguments over and again. The adjusters actually think they are winning. Scary.
